The party is absolutely finished.  These cunts have done their job.  They don’t care.  All that mattered was stopping someone putting the taxes up getting in power.  It’s opened Pandora’s box and finished the party’s chance of winning an election in the foreseeable future but they’re alright so who’s arsed. When the option of either a socialist getting in power and sorting the country out at the expense of the rich or a fucking corrupt gang of cunts ran by some Etonian twat with complete contempt for every single person in the country they chose the latter.

It’s funny how silent it’s been in this thread lately from all the usual suspects.  Clearly embarrassed by how laughable some of the comments are looking back at them now.  We aren’t just fucked while Starmer is in charge.  We are fucked permanently because you happily went along with the facade that all Labour needed was some fella who could get the media on side.  A nice neo liberal suit who wouldn’t rock the boat and keep the country on the slide into oblivion as it’s better to do it slowly than quickly.  Pretending to ignore the permanence of handing back power to these cunts wasn’t going to allow them to not just stack the cards in their favour but completely remove any power to hold anyone in the party accountable forever.  It’s absolutely sickening really.

It really seems like there is no opposition at the moment. The Tories are all over the media with their claims of more Police, more hospitals and more NHS spending - and they're completely unopposed. I even regularly hear the Tories claim to be "the party of the NHS". Completely unchallenged.

The layman needs to hear the truth of how things are - they need to hear it in plain English. They need to hear it on the platforms they use. It's not just about about a biased media.

The regulars on this thread are more learned than me - why is this not happening?

It’s 100% policy and being done on purpose.  I think their view is that it’s pointless slagging off the tories off now because it won’t have the same impact by election time because it’s all they will have done anyway.

Personally I reckon all these neo liberal think tanks that will be full of the elites privately educated kids are telling them to win the election they need to appear to be as close to the tories as possible which is fucking comical really.  The tories keep getting voted in because they’re seen as an anti immigration party which is also ridiculous really because as they don’t do much different to Labour in the grand scheme of things.  They have ended freedom of movement though with the EU which will be goodwill in the bank for decades I think.

There is an opposition its just the majority aren't allowed to hear what they say unless the tory media can twist it into anti-british rhetoric.

Johnson is seen as a hero to many of the voters Labour lost at the last election. Boris the Brave finally delivered Brexit and freed us from that nasty EU. Starmer is already deeply unpopular with Brexity types who see him as very pro EU, so I can understand why Labour aren't attacking him personally too hard.

I can't work out what the actual Labour strategy is though? Starmer seems to be doing very little and seems to be losing support from all angles. Even some of my friends that were initially impressed by him have brought in to this 'captain hindsight' or 'Starmer the abstainer' lines that are being trotted out and think that he's not up to the task.

As a few other people have mentioned recently, the vaccine rollout is going well and the extension of the furlough scheme are probably more than enough to make the majority think that the Tories are the right people to have in charge.

I think Starmer is waiting, and hoping that the consequence's of both Covid and Brexit start to show and will try and make more of a move then. The reality is he is going to find it very hard to do that with the launch of GB news and the BBC putting a Tory in charge.

I've resigned myself to at least another 8/9 years of Tory rule and in some ways it may be better if Labour don't make any progress at the next election if they are going to move towards a 'not quite as bad as the tories' manifesto. I will reserve my judgement until a bit nearer the time, but I will likely be voting Green, or SNP if I'm living in Scotland at the next election.

Despite Brexit having happened and the continual ignoring of international law, the Tories will run in Hartlepool on Get Brexit Done.

If Labour hold on, it will show Starmer is on the right track.

If Labour lose, it will down to the left and Corbyn.

Hope that Corbyn fella doesn't get involved and fuck this up for Kier. He's the type to do it on purpose. Probably let slip the day before the vote that the rest of the country thinks the people of Hartlepool are a bunch of dim witted Brexit loving monkey hangers. Could lose a few votes that.

He’s not helping himself. He’s now got people who wanted him as leader questioning why he’s going after Sturgeon but giving the Tories a free pass and going on about how disappointed they are with him. Who is advising him?
