I once read that Jurgen had a "shopping list" of ace players we were signing from various german clubs.

Last time I was in a German Aldi it had Becks as its cheapest of the cheap lagers. Aspirational designer brand in the UK, bargain basement in Germany. Something to think about.

Worst case scenario this, and then at the end of the season we finish 6th because of fatigue, klopp ends up under pressure and we potentially lose him.

 

I like to believe that we are saving our cash for after we finish top 4, and we can offer champions league football and dine at the top table when choosing players to fit our system. I feel like that's dangerously optimistic though.

I'm not unhappy with the transfer setup and I know that Michael Edwards is the de facto Director of Football but we'd be idiots if we didn't at least try to go after Monchi. He's already said he wants to leave Sevilla and they've said that he has a 5m Euro buy-out in his contract.

Who, exactly, would you like them to sign?  There simply does not exist a player in world football that would make us title favourites, especially one that would be available to us this month.  The bookies are giving us approximately a 15% chance of the title right now.  At absolute best, any addition would add a couple of percentage points onto that number.

 

It's one thing if Klopp is crying out for a player and they're telling him we can't afford it.  It's completely a different thing if he and the scouts have looked around and said "no, there's really no one available that makes us a lot better."

We know who the targets are. We're being fed that they won't be available until the summer, but not to worry as we'll be stronger next season.

 

I'd rather we pushed the boat out and paid over the odds to bring somebody in while there's a title there to be won. One thing we've all experienced over the past 26 years is that going close one season has led to a drop-off the next. I think we're in a great position and am concerned that we're going to waste the opportunity once again.
