We were finally able to tell our family as a whole about the arrival,in September,of our Daughter's and out Grandchild number two. Our daughter swore us to secrecy until she had her first scan yesterday. Not sure of the gender of the baby until next month but we are all looking forward to a sibling for our, almost 3 year old Grandaughter who will start nursery in September too. A flicker of light among a lot of gloom.10 points

Monday Feb 27: I have a confession to make. I’m fucking made up Newcastle lost yesterday even though it meant the Mancs getting their hands on a trophy. I wasn’t even the remotest bit conflicted about it either, I was 100% all in on Newcastle losing. There are several reasons but the main one is that in the grand scheme of things this win doesn’t really mean a great deal to manc fans. It’s a day out and another trinket to put in an already bulging trophy cabinet. For Newcastle it meant everything and if there is one fanbase in this country that really deserves a trophy…. well it’s not them fucking sportwashed sellouts. I don’t begrudge the likes of Spurs, West Ham, Wolves, even Villa winning something. It’s Everton and Newcastle I never want to win anything. I hope Newcastle’s long barren run lasts for eternity. If they hadn’t embraced the Saudi takeover the way they did then I’d have felt differently. Shit, I’ve wanted them to win league titles in the past, but I look at how those fans have embraced the Saudis and it’s pretty clear that for the most part they’re the worst bunch of fucking gobshites in England and I hope they never get to enjoy anything ever. I said when the Saudi thing was first mooted that these were the worst possible fans that this could happen to and that they were the ideal candidates for sports washing. Even more so than City. I’d say Everton would be right up there too now (they’d embrace Putin if he could get them in the top six), but from a Saudi perspective Newcastle were ripe for the picking and it’s gone exactly how I knew it would. Not only do they not care where the money is coming from or how many people their owners execute or throw in jail for being gay or tweeting about women’s rights, they’ll actively speak out to defend it just because they funded the purchase of Dan fucking Burn and Kieron Trippier. It’s mental. I don’t have a problem with those who just want to enjoy the footy and say they can’t control who owns the club, but that’s not what is happening really is it? They are hero worshipping the ownership (flags, banners, dressing like Saudis etc) and fighting their battles for them on social media by either denying or defending the human right abuses. They’re even picking fights with Amnesty Intertional. Who needs to invest in a bot farm when you have 50 thousand Geordies who’ll do it for you. And for what? Because Saudi Arabia bought their football team from the hated Mike Ashley. Of course Ashley was a knob, but he wasn’t chopping people’s heads off for speaking out against him. Shame really, I could have got behind that. They’ve actually got banners for Amanda Staveley for fucks sake. Tolerating Saudi ownership is one thing, but embracing it and revelling in it for ’banter’ purposes is another thing entirely, and that’s what is happening. Worst fans in the league. You probably aren’t even aware of most of the embarrassing shit they’re up to but I’ve got a Sunderland supporting brother-in-law so I’m constantly seeing the cringe worthy shit that’s going on up there. So yeah I’m made up they lost. They disgust me, and Beheddie Howe can fuck off as well. Don’t want him winning anything, the fucking spineless Saudi shill.7 points

It's not that I'm gutted Bobby is leaving, it's the fact that that team is over. It's definitely the end of an era. THAT is absolutely gutting.6 points

I'm just in the fuck them all for laughing at us - the whole 'got lots of pts' thing, the bitterness wanting 2020 voided, the cheering for the cheats v us stuff. I want them to cop a mouthful of it and see how it tastes. Man City winning title is meaningless as far as i am concerned and the more they win maybe everybody else will wake up and realise how bad it is....especially when they have had to swallow some of it coming at their expense.5 points

The right doesn't really mean right anymore, just as left now often doesn't mean left. To my mind, the demographic which would have swelled the ranks of Conservative parties had grown old and died. The generations behind them don't share their views as, despite being educated and in decent jobs, they have no money. The educated middles classes are more centrist/centre left. So for what's left of conservative parties to survive they needed a new base, which is basically the broken and angry working class. Ironically, they're only broken in the first place due to the forces they're now supporting. When you've got an 'ideology' like that, your only tools are deflection and lies. The people who run the right now are gangsters and overarchieving talentless grifters. The woke stuff, immigration etc are just tools of the trade. But there's a big element of knowing the game is up I think too. If you look how they roll, the casual disregard for everything, there's the sense that they're just plundering what they can before they have to go and find a real job.4 points

You know, even though our season has been shite I’m quite enjoying footy at the moment and I’ve got a little spring in my step most of the time. The only time it isn’t there is when the Blues have managed to get a result. On the rare occasions that happens I struggle with it. It affects my mood even more than when we lose. This relegation fight they’re in has really got me excited and I probably know more about their upcoming fixtures than I do ours. This week has been sound. Ok, we drew 0-0 at Palace in what was a pretty stinking game, but earlier in the day the Blues lost at home to Villa and slipped back into the bottom three. Us dropping a couple of points is not going to take the shine off that. So I’ll start with that game and first things first, I’m going to make a public apology as it’s only right that I’m big enough to do that. I’ve said a lot of things about Villa over the years, all of which are true, but nevertheless, last week I laid into them and one of the things I said was “You can never trust Villa to get a result“. I’m not wrong, history has proven that, but I needed Villa to get a result this week and they did so I want to apologise for what I said last week and I want to thank them for doing their bit to aid the cause. Thanks for you service. And while I’m being nice to Villa, I’m also going to give an appreciative nod of approval to their fans for the rendition of “We’ll meet again, don’t know where don’t know when” at the end of the game. You all know how I feel about Midlands clubs and their love of the crap “bantz” but that’s funny. It’s not original, Sunderland sang it to Newcastle back in the day, although that hasn’t worked out too well for them since like. Nevertheless, I needed Villa to get a result at Goodison and they did it, and then they rubbed Evertonian noses in it. So for one week only, me and Villa can be pals. Watkins gave Villa the lead from the spot but he was lucky to even be on the field at that point having been the latest victim of the patented “Pickford lunge”. Exact same style of assault that took Virgil out but yet again he got away with it. He’s one dangerous cunt him. It’s not malicious, he’s not a bad lad, but he’s fucking dangerous and he isn’t learning from it. Mind you, if he’s never punished then how is he supposed to learn? Buendia wrapped it up by walking past the traffic cone that is Conor Sloady to ensure one hell of a night on Everton Twitter Spaces. It’s the new Arsenal Fan TV that, incredible entertainment.4 points

Exactly. If it's between Arsenal, City and United, all I care about is that it's not United. The other outcomes are shite too but nothing would be worse than United winning the league.3 points

It ends 2-2, which is our first point away from home in the league since October. Our focus at this level is elsewhere, of course.3 points

Just watched the Hendo documentary on LFC TV. I've been an admirer, a critic and a lover. 10 years at the club. To play for this club for 10 years you have to be some player, to Captain this club and lift a European Cup and a League title you have to be something special. A very good mate of mine works closely in Football, he's a massive blue and even he says that Henderson is one of the best people in the game. King Kenny loves him to bits. I think this lad deserves some fucking respect. Fucking love you Hendo lad2 points

One of my favourite moments ever at Anfield was 3 nil up against the mancs (Kuyt hat-trick) singing Happy Birthday To You to the greatest player ever to wear a Liverpool jersey. I've got a ticket for tomorrow, hope for more of the same. What a man, what a legend.2 points

There’s nothing right-wing whatsoever about objecting to this drag queen story stuff. The whole idea is stupid, unnecessary, and frankly, makes me feel uncomfortable. There’s just no need for it. Drag is sexualised, adult entertainment, FFS. AoT has me reduced to sitting here agreeing with Rico about most aspects of this. What a waste of a Saturday night.2 points

I actually enjoyed that one. (I enjoy them all but you know what I mean, football has been painful) Anyone who saw a middle aged man out for a run dying of exhaustion and laughing on Otterspool prom- that was me listening to this.2 points

Ok long story short. I own a 1998 Les Paul Studio guitar, which I bought new in 1999. It was my number 1 guitar for about 5 yrs, before it got fucked by a bass player at a gig we did, when he unloaded a full jug of beer over the pickups as it sat in it’s case as I was packing down. Anyway it’s been languishing in a room rotting away. I’ve decided to put full sized humbucker P-90s in it. Always wanted to try P90s, so here’s my chance. There are 3 brands that have been recommended to me - House Of Tone, Mojotone and Tonerider Rebel 90s. Does anybody have any experience with any of these brands of pickups, better still anyone tried P90s from these companies? My old beast2 points

Been a while since I posted on here, not much time for GF at the moment. But I had to get this one in from earlier in the week. Fucking daylight robbery and not even good. From that cunt Ramsey's Bread St kitchen (on south place in London). Over 15 quid for the breakfast. The black pudding wasn't a part of it and was another fiver. And it wasn't cooked well either. Bacon was massively undercooked too. One of the worst value for money I've ever had. Overall 3 breakfasts with tea etc came to £96. And the service was fucking shit.2 points

Delighted Arsenal won. I don't know the younger Arsenal fans, but when I lived in London, they were generally okay. They are a proper club. Arteta seems a complete knobhead but credit he has done a very good job. United are United so don't want them winning for obvious reasons, but City winning isn't meaningless. This is a club who is a sportswashing project. This is a club with arguably nastier fans than United. This is a club whose players sang about a decent family man who by all accounts is a pillar of his community being attacked by Roma hooligans and left in a coma. This is Pep's team. I can't abide the spoiled cunt. If he fucked off to Marseille and pipped PSG to a title or won a title with Valencia or Roma then I'd have more time for him, but I just despise the patronising hypocritical prick.1 point

Aye the voodoo is very much in for them it seems, i guess ill take it even if it means dealing with a bunch of Arsenal supporting mates. Otherwise a decent set of results for us today i guess.1 point

Personally I think much of what you say on this subject in this, and other threads, appears performative, but that's just the perception I get and has no bearing on what the truth may or may not be. I think people will quite happily isolate specific issues and nod along with whoever supports that issue when it's beneficial whatever side people are on.1 point

Gakpo learning the position, Jota injury prone and, at the moment, Nunez seemingly not a consideration for the position leaves us short whether he can 'only' play central or otherwise.1 point
