No better than Lucas. Covers a lot of ground but lacks the real class to control and dictate a game. In fact they're very similar players.

Yep, I'd go along with that comparison. Like Lucas he's still young, I think they'll both kick on and fit the blueprint better than De La Red.

Liverpool To Hijack Benfica's Radamel Falcao Deal – Report

A late swoop could see the Reds usurp Benfica for the forward.

Liverpool have reportedly tabled an offer to sign River Plate striker Radamel Falcao.

Falcao appeared set to sign for Benfica after River Plate paid off the €400,000debt they had to the the Colombian forward.

However, according to news daily A Bola, Liverpool have lodged a late €3.5 million offer to beat Benfica to the signing of the player.

Although Liverpool's bid is slightly inferior to the one made by Benfica, the prospect of playing in the Premier League may prompt Falcao to choose Anfield as his final destination.

Benfica and River Plate are thought to have agreed a €4 million deal for 80 per cent of Falcao's playing rights, but the final decision now rests on the striker's shoulders.

€3.5m would be a steal.

Owen always wanted to play for the Mancs and considered it one of the curses of his life that he finished up in the LFC youth system. When he was leaving Real Madrid he tried to sell himself to the Mancs, Arsenal and LFC in that order. The first two did not want him (neither did LFC despite Parry's pressure on Rafa to take him) so he went to Newcastle grateful that Parry had helped him leverage a great fee for Real Madrid and great wages for himself.

Fuck there's a whole shedfull of Bullshit in this post. You've not only had a go a MO but also Carra must be a liar 'cos his books tells a different story.

Liverpool Interested In D'Agostino, Juventus Are In Pole Position - Udinese Director

The deal to bring the Roma youth product to Turin is not dead in the water as some may suspect.

According to Udinese sporting director Sergio Gasperin, Liverpool are keeping an eye on midfielder Gaetano D'Agostino, but he is still likely to sign for Juventus.

"I can confirm the interest of the foreign club [Liverpool], but these are only inquiries, there is nothing concrete," he told tuttomercatoweb.

However, he was quick to point out that the Bianconeri still had the upper hand in negotiations for the player.

"Juventus is absolutely still in pole position and the deal could pick up again in the next few hours. We are working on the economic aspects," he continued.

"Udinese want €18 million, while Juventus have bid €15m, so the difference has been made up and there is optimism among the parties involved."

Previously, it was believed that Juventus had only offered €12m, thus causing negotiations to break down.

D'Agostino had a breakout season at the Stadio Friuli, scoring 11 goals and grabbing eight assists in Serie A in 2008-09. He also earned his first cap for the Italian national team, playing in a 3-0 win over Northern Ireland in early June.

Liverpool Boss Benitez Considering Keirrison Or Kleber To Partner Torres

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is looking at Brazilians Keirrison and Kleber as possible strike partners to join Fernando Torres at Anfield next season.

With Liverpool’s 2008-09 Premier League campaign badly affected by the absence through injury of 'El Nino' for several crucial games, and no effective cover following Robbie Keane’s return to Tottenham Hotspur in January, Benitez is looking for attacking options at an affordable price.

Keirrison currently plays for Palmeiras in the Brasileiro, having joined from Coritiba at the end of last season. He has also represented Brazil at Under-21 level.

The 20 year-old scored 54 goals in 100 games for Coritiba and finished as the Brasileiro Série A 2008 joint top goalscorer, with 21 goals, making him the youngest top scorer in the history of Brazilian football.

According to sources in Brazil he has been linked with a move to various European clubs including Liverpool, Valencia, Real Madrid and Barcelona, however Liverpool are thought to be leading the chase, with an undisclosed release clause in his contract suggesting the player would be available for around £12 million.

Meanwhile, 25 year-old Cruzeiro frontman Kleber, who has been in stunning form since he returned to Brazil last year after four years with Dynamo Kiev, is claiming that Liverpool have already made an offer for him.

"I have a proposal from Liverpool for seven million euros and we are analysing it," he said. "If Cruzeiro offer the same amount or we talk I'd prefer to stay. But we haven't talked yet."

Kleber joined Kiev in January 2004 after starting his career at Sao Paulo, and spent four successful seasons at the Ukrainian club, winning the Ukrainian Cup three times and the Championship twice.

During his stay in Kiev he maintained a ratio of almost a goal every other game, before being loaned out to Palmeiras last year, and then signing a five-year contract with Cruzeiro earlier this year.

Have Barcelona not agreed a deal for Keirrison?

yes, it's pretty close, but they had hoped to use him and Caceres in the deal for Villa, but Emery at Valencia doesn't want him. In the Spanish press today.

Barca have already agreed a deal for & with Keirison, but apparently are keeping it on the hush as they want to use him as a lure to sign Villa. Valencia would get Keirison on loan for a year including 40mill Euros....something like that!

The reason we lost out was because it would have been virtually impossible to get a work permit for him as he's never played for the national team!

Albiol and Carvallhio would have cost them under 20 million and would have made them a hell of a lot stronger than Benzema and Kaka will (I think), Senna or someone similar to sit in front of the back four and all for less than 50!

Ludicrous. A. Joke. Of. A. Club.

He signed for them last week didn't he?

What do you lot think of D'Agostino?

Apparently replacement for Xabi.

I would Xabi above anybody out there, but if he did go, would he be a good buy?

Iv seen him play twice, once he looked tidy and completely ran midfield, another where Udinese got clattered and the game bypassed him. We are a better team than Udinese though.

boat more or less missed on that one -

D'Agostino, Gasparin confirms Liverpool, but the Juve ...

Source: Mi.Cri.

Waiting to be a guest this evening at 20.30 at SpecialeMercato of Sportitalia, Sergio Gasparin confirmed the interest of Liverpool for Gaetano D'Agostino in absolute exclusive early yesterday afternoon by Tuttomercatoweb: "I can confirm the interest of other foreign companies, but when these are only polls and chats, there is nothing concrete. " La Juve, however, is still in absolute pole position and the business take off in the next few hours: excluding technical counterparts, is now working on the economic side. The Udinese requests 18 million, Juve went up to 15: the difference was made up, so there is optimism among the parties to close the deal.

Michael Owen Opens Tentative Discussions With Manchester United - Report

After the bookies cut the odds on his joining the champions, a British media outlet has claimed that there have been talks between the player's representatives and the Old Trafford giants.

Michael Owen would not have been the name on most people's lips when suggestions were mooted as to how Sir Alex Ferguson could reinforce Manchester United's depleted forward line, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, and the imminent exit of Carlos Tevez, probably to Manchester City.

Not only is Owen an icon at United's fierce Lancashire rivals Liverpool, but he has also endured a spate of injuries during his time at Newcastle United and, prior to that, at Real Madrid, something which has seen him lose his place in the England squad.

However, Sky Sports News is reporting that it "understands" that "tentative" talks have begun between Owen's representatives and United, after bookmakers' odds on a likely move fell from 20/1 this morning to an astonishing 9/4 on this evening.

Owen, despite the injuries, still managed 11 goals for Newcastle last season, and, given the right service and a clean bill of health, still possesses a lethal finisher's instinct in the box.

Such an ability is priceless, and, with the Red Devils always likely to create plenty of chances, perhaps Ferguson feels that the player is worth taking an unlikely punt on.
