Fascinating, 44% in Iraq want McCain, could be they fear the aftermath of an American pullout? Also the only majority vote for McCain was in Macedonia, a race issue maybe?

He's got a lot of support in Venezuela too, a backlash against the lefties in their own gaff?

Interesting stuff.

wow - that's a great link !

now here's hoping americans actually do vote.

Deserves it's own thread?

I love Barack Obama. What a guy.

It probably goes against the majority of opinion but I actually really like Americans. I went through a stage where I hated them but realised that you can't hold a whole country accountable for the actions of a few gobshites, it's just generalistic and unfair.

Having said that, if the Americans decide to elect McCain then i'll lose an awful lot of respect for them.

i don't dislike all americans either - i lived in san fran for awhile and went to school in montana for a year. i met some very bright, intelligent people there (mostly SF though).

i'll be less surprised if they elect mccain than i was when they gave george bush a second term.

saying all that, you know your country does not have a great reputation when even canadians start disliking you. scary thing is that, since 9-11, they (mostly) really don't care what the world thinks of them.

that's the real problem - isolationism/protectionism.

obama is the kind of leader who might actually be able to reverse this worrying trend.

I agree, that's why they need Obama. He can start to reverse the trend.

Some rank and file americans actually seem pissed off that Obama is so well liked in the rest of the world, and indeed the Republicans have tapped into that as though it's a sign of weakness, as if engaging with other countries is the wrong way to go about things - because of course - bombing the shit out of people always works, just like it did in Viet Nam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Oh wait

John Cleese on last night's Countdown (the US news version) saying that if Karl Rove had been in charge of the Obama campaign he'd have portrayed McCain as a man who had spent 4 years in the company of communists, received free accomodation, talked exclusively with communists, and therefore had 'palled around' with communists.

thought it might be good to start an 'official' one in the last 24 hours before the polls open.

here is an electoral map of the US, with the likely outcome...

RealClearPolitics - Electoral Map

i can't believe that louisiana, a state devastated by a hurricane and ignored by the administration, would be heavily leaning toward mccain ? that still gives me cause for concern.

i am also personally concerned about the possibility of violence, with either result. i really do wonder if obama would actually survive a full term in office.

hope i'm wrong.

One of these 2 things will happen:

1) America will balls it up and vote McCain in.

2) Obama will win and will be assassinated.

i have a feeling he will assainated if he gets in too. Some people in the southern states wouldnt be able to take in a black president.

Cant wait. I'll be staying up all night as I do with most election nights.

Yes I need a life.

nothing to apologize for there, mr.wr.

it could very well be the most significant election in our lifetime. perhaps even in the history of mankind.

a continuation of the republican agenda could easily result in a fractured and isolated america, which eventually opens the door to a new empire from the east and a quite different new world order.

can you iagine the riots if obama wins and then is assasinated ? would george stay in 'emergency' power ???

canada is the 51st state (and may well be someday - whether we like it or not)

the best you can hope for is 52nd.

And then there's Mehicco, so maybe 53rd....

Ok, what time does this shit start up, and what time does it finish? I might not sound interested but I usually get into it once it starts. If Ohio or Florida can't manage to get their votes sorted out quickly like the rest this time around though I think my head might explode.

You are looking at a really late one my man. The BBC's coverage starts at 11.15pm tomorrow.

Virginia will announce around midnight I think so that will give us an indicator.

Its the most important election of my 26 year old life. Labour kicking the Tories out was ace in 97' but if Obama wins that'll will be topped.

I have a few slight reservations about Obama but that's nothing towards what I feel about McCain. I honestly do fear for the world's future if he was to get in and it would probably be ten times worse if anything was to happen to him and Palin had to take charge.

Deffo hoping for an Obama win here.

If it wasn't that ultimately some American cunt wins, American Presidential election night is ace. I usually ring all of the local escort agencies and see if they have any American birds on their books, get her round, smear Pizza all over her flange, stuff popcorn up her arse, kill her, eat her and then watch some corrupt megalomaniac, who shouldn't be left in charge of Mice, get elected and disappoint everyone.

I wish it was every November.

That's the "American Dream" in action right there.
