It must be a pretty well hidden secret, as all my fellow Catholics will know part of the process of becoming a candidate for the papacy is the have team of people (Devil's Advocates) look into their past and actively look for things that could cause trouble. Nowadays, with the shadowy Vatican involved you'd have thought they'd have dug it up or removed the threat.

They obviously weren't concerned with the child sex cover up or his membership of the nazi party then.

"And now, let us entrust the Holy Church to the care of Our Supreme Pastor, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and implore his holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal Fathers with her maternal solicitude, in electing a new Supreme Pontiff."

Why must we 'implore' Mary? 'Beg' her, to form part of an interview panel? Surely she's all over this? Not in a maternal way though, I think that's bang out of line from Ben.

I don't like the way in which Ben also thinks that we just bypass Jesus and go straight to his mum for HR advice.
