Franks idea is a good one, scrap the weekend and put the players back in the type of bubble they were in back in April 2020. Clean slate for everyone but consequences beyond that, forfeit games if you can't field a team. There has to be a level playing field, that shite last season with Utd playing Tuesday/Thursday and trying to fuck us over can't be allowed again.

Very good post.

So expect the FA to do something completely opposite

Chelsea have named theirs; Lukaku, Werner, Hudson-Odoi and Chilwell, and Havertz is suspected but not confirmed.

I'm pretty sure they have the new variant. Best to quarantine them for 21 days, to be safe.

Fair enough, as I said I wasn't paying too much attention but I was sure certain clubs were involved with postponements without listing the players.

You're not wrong, it seems to be up to the clubs whether they release the names or not.

The league should just cancel games until Boxing Day.

I mean there is an issue of integrity that could decide a title. It could work in our advantage or fuck us up royally. As it stands, we could play Spurs who could be riddled with it still and rusty as fuck, or they could be rested and have a full deck of cards while we will be missing three players at least - Fabinho and Virgil gigantic losses for us. The game gets cancelled and City/Chelsea games go ahead and you could be in the ridiculous situation where teams are behind rivals by several fixtures and are then hampered in a title race or relegation dogfight.

To be fair to United, I don't really see how cancellations benefit them. Their squad seems to riddled with it - as much as I'd love them to field an u15 team, I'd be fuming if that was us.

Moving forward, if there was a cut off date and clubs expected to have bubbles, there should be zero tolerance and rightly or wrongly that includes us.

Leicester v Tottenham game was called off because of Leicester's problems.

So looks like Tottemham will be ready to play weekend.

Question is will we? With 3 out already to covid it surely only takes 1 or 2 more and we must be pushing for postponement.

Klopp seems keen to carry on based on his comments tonight.

I'm sure Spurs will be keen to play as they are already three league games behind.

I will be pissed off though if we go in to that game without VVD and Fabinho, and they turn up with a full squad.

I can't understand how any games in London should be going ahead this weekend, based on the case numbers.

Yeah we need to be careful...playing away at one of the better sides with a weakened team against them at full strength would be IMO silly.

It will only have been 2 weeks since their last game (5th Dec) so they aren't gonna be that rusty.

We can probably cope with VVD and Fabinho out to covid even as two of our most important players, but any more and its just not right IMO.

Looks like you only get a postponement if not enough players to fulfill a fixture though...

The team is no doubt weaker without those two. We have no real replacement for Fabinho, I think that has been evident over the last year or so.

And even if Konate and Matip were both brilliant against Saudi Sportswash Van Dijk brings things none of them are capable of. Hitting fast travelling and extremely precise 45 yard cross field passes to open up defences being one of them. Dont have to look further back than the Wolves game too see the vital importance of that.

Not sure closing the League down for couple weeks would do any good, it’s not gonna get rid of the virus. There seems to be a few players with it now so close it down for 2 weeks. Then load more players test positive after the shutdown,  more cancellations & 2 less weeks to fit them in. Reckon we just gotta carry on & maybe cancel the winter break end of Jan to play rearranged fixtures.

London currently looks like a Hogarth painting where the Gin has been substituted with hand sanitiser and ivermectin.

I’m thrice jabbed and I’m still on tenterhooks thanks to all the dopey fuckers piling on to public transport sweating and coughing their guts out, disgusting faces on full view.

Still, it’s reassuring that the Tories will take yesterday’s by-election defeat to mean let’s get rid of all restrictions come New Year’s Day.

You still don’t have to wear masks in public area like buses, trains, stadiums or arenas in the UK  ?

it’s crazy really…

You are supposed to, but it’s not / very, very rarely enforced.

In fact, London’s public transport mandate never officially ended, although the Tories scrapping it elsewhere trickled down eventually and I’d say it had slipped to 50-50 until the nationwide mandate was reintroduced. So combined with relatively low vaccine take-up, it’s all a bit of a shit show now.
