Happy to let Gomez make his mistakes at LFC?

Obviously I don't agree. It was my opinion that Klopp would bring back Lovren as soon as he was ready, not that I agreed with it. I think Gomez has done enough to change the managers mind but I wouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised if Lovren returns and stays in.

On the Gomez mistakes piece, I stand over that. He has made 4 or 5 mistakes that could have led to heads falling off, thankfully his teammates and a bit of luck (Lucas Moira of the post) have bailed him out. It's the nature of the beast that mistakes that lead to goals are analysed much more than those that don't. Robertson's defending for Willian's 1 on 1 is over looked even though it was worse than TAA's defending for the goal.

None of the above is me being critical of the player, I've been a massive fan since the first time Rogers picked him and think he has the potential to be as good as big Virgil.

Every defender makes mistakes, even VVD. To highlight Gomes and mention Lovren ( well ensconced serial offender ) in the same post didn’t sit right with me.

You’ve made your point, a good point. Apologies for the retort.

Never mind the bollocks!

Fuckin lightning. It must be so demoralising for attackers coming up against us. Gomez is physically superior on every level, and he can play like a motherfucker. And Virgil is Virgil.

Sorry Lovren, Matip. This pairing is untouchable

You say that, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Klopp still tried to get Lovren in. He loves a bit of Lovren.

True, and who can blame him? Lovren is ace. But surely he can see what we all see regarding the Gomez/Virgil pairing.

I think we could well only end up seeing Lovren if we’re rotating or if Trent needs a rest. Gomez looks like one of the first names on the team sheet right now

I’m not a big fan of Lovren, so I’m dreading him making what I’d consider to be a terrible decision.

going back to Gomez though, the only thing I can really point out with him is he can occasionally be a little casual on the ball, allowing the closing attacker to get the ball or close to it. I of course understand the tactic of creating space, but he will need to get used to choosing the right time to release it. But he’s 21, to be this good now... wow.

Whilst I agree with the general statement, I suspect as the season progresses, he'll be using Lovren to rest Gomez, for his development, recovery, whatever you want to call it, rather than because he thinks Lovren is a better option all the time.

I very much hope he plays the solid back five most big games. But yeah, of course I agree there’ll be rotation, and even I ha e to admit Dejan is a good option for that.

We are much improved at the back because we have both good and fast defenders, the same goes for our forwards too. Strangely, our midfield is our slowest position but why Klopp has brought in Keita and the Shaq to give us real pace there too. Fabinho is not fast but you need players who are more measured and are there to hold the ball up if necessary which also brings in Milner and Hendo. We have got the recipe for a great balanced side but just need to find that balance before we start hammering teams again.
