Am I missing something, I thought the idea was people splurging their last monthly pay before Xmas but surely a lot of people who get paid last day of the month or next to last won't get paid until mid-next week ?

The fact that most news articles are quoting Barclaycard etc, as having to process the most transactions today than any other day this year is the clue that mostly it's payment on the never-never.

That used to be the pattern of pre-Christmas spending, but a few years ago, in a dead clever ruse to get us mugs emptying our pockets earlier (and for a longer period) than usual, some marketing twat nicked the American idea of having post-Thanksgiving sales (but without the preceding public holiday) and obedient consumers have allowed themselves to be herded into it... so far.  I suspect this year might be a damp squib and the idea might have already run its course.  I fucking hope so.

I work for a delivery company. We’ve grown 15% year on year for the last 5 years. It’s forecast that next week will see 1.8 to 2 million parcel be processed in one day after Black Friday and cyber Monday. Licence to print money. That’s why my bonus is so big ... so keep ordering online haha!

My new TV came this morning.

A SUNDAY MORNING!!

Which meant I got to watch Blue Planet on it this evening.

If this is capitalism then I'm all in.

Mine came yesterday morning too, got Blue Planet still to watch

Did you change the settings on yours, found the out of the box settings a bit of a head fuck, like everything was shot with green screen?
