I've not been watching much of the boxing so apologies if it's already been mentioned, but why are they fighting as amateurs, wearing vests but not headguards?

The head guards have been binned, but i reckon that decision will be reversed after these games. you can't expect these amateurs to go through 4-5 fights without clashing heads.

 

To be honest, the quality of the boxing is fucking pants, far to many wild punches, most of these lot will get their cunts kicked in if they ever turned pro.

Apparently the did a study that said headguards lead to more concussions. This is due to the fighters tending to be less defensive when wearing them leading to more headshots, vision impairment which can hinder defence and not see shots coming in and also punches tend to be less powerful when headguards are not used.

 

Can't see it lasting long due to all the cuts and the refs seem very wary. They keep sending them to the comers after clean shots and one stopped a fight when somebody got caught. The lad looked fine but the ref stopped him.
