  1. 1. Would it be a mistake to sell him?

Joey Barton said and i quote -

"Mamadou Sakho is the most unorthodox, efficient, unbalanced, effective defender on the planet. Watching him is similar to watching a clown spinning plates. You are just waiting for them to smash on the floor, yet somehow, he keeps it going"

Superb quote from Barton there. Ronay and Lineker too. I'm glad more people in the wider game can see that Sakho can play. As fans who watch him closely week in week out, we know he's been a bit more inconsistent of late, but he's a good player who should be with us for the duration.

It will be interesting to see what partnership forms when we have (presumably) Matip, Sakho, Lovren, plus another next season.

Awesome last night. Are we ever gonna get a string consistent good performances from him?

He doesn't manage it for 90 minutes never mind a string of games.  Even last night when he was good for most of the game, he managed to get away with a few very sloppy passes in dangerous areas and that stupid foul where he somehow completely missed the ball on the edge of the box.

Likewise Lovren immense for most of the game but was stood daydreaming playing them onside in the first half when they really should have scored.

Dortmund punish these mistakes and we've a totally different outlook on how those two played last night.

In fairness to him, he tries to find the feet of a team-mate with every single pass.

He does this to a fault, though, often giving it to somebody already under pressure or hitting a loose one that an opponent picks up. He can improve by being less ambitious sometimes. Playing it long or into Row Z is sometimes the best option, even in these days of tactical over-analysis.

Trying to find a pass EVERY time is a huge weakness imo. Sometimes row Z is the correct option and sometimes it's not. Lovren seems to understand that.

He's quality. Him and Lovren are an excellent partnership and the goals conceded column when they are together backs it up. There are ridiculous expectations on our players, every misplaced pass or whatever is greeted as if every other player on the planet never makes a mistake.

looked like fucking bambi on ice again. Some dangerous balls and lovren had to bail him out time after time.

I think you had a replay on of a different game from somewhere. He was excellent, hence why one of Europe's best attack's didnt exactly do much and didnt even have a chance in the last half hour.

Not at all. Think you'll find it was Lovren who's universally given MoTM.

He was excellent overall last night, as was Lovren.  Some people are never going to see it, just let them crack on.

He played well but I'm not confident he can do it consistently, he has a habit of following up a couple of decent games with some awful ones.

The Sakho-Lovren partnership has conceded 11 goals in 15.5 games (0.71 per game)

And that includes games against United, City and Dortmund.

Lovren must have become the best defender in the world if he's consistently been bailing out Sakho and our defensive record has been that good.

Clearly he hasn't been doing that.  Sakho, the odd brainfart and rarer poor performance aside, has been pretty good.  As I say, let them crack on.
