The BBC have been a disgrace on this, in my opinion.

 

I have no problem with balance because, it's true, she was the most divisive political figure this country has ever known, but let's not sugarcoat things like the six o'clock news did.

 

Then at seven, that bastion of hard-hitting journalism the One Show almost made me throw up in my mouth. Fucking Joan Collins and Gyles Brandreth licking the old bitch's ringpiece was bad enough, but to then have cameras going to places like Glasgow and Cardiff and finding (under rocks, I assume) what must be the only Tories living in these places to fawn over here was nothing short of cringeworthy. The worst they had was the odd person going 'she was divisive' (same as what the presenter said), but how about expanding upon that for purposes of balance?

 

I watched Channel 4 news on the +1 and it really was excellent. Why? Because there was balance. I have no problem with people praising her (even if I totally disagree and feel the need to supress a gag) because, like I said, there's never been a more polarising figure, but for every Louise Mensch and Lord Powell on there, they had Polly Toynbee and Alexei Sayle to even things out.

 

And that's the key- fucking balance. History should not be fucking rewritten here.

I actually think my memories of how bad she was had dimmed with the passing of the last 20 odd years. I retained a dislike of her but much of it maybe blurred over by the fact our city has improved immeasurably since those dark days when she was in power.

 

But having read a number of great articles today, this being one:
