Good British TV

I hardly watch any British telly due to US tv being so much better, however, I like Sherlock and I've just finished watching Thorne which was on Sky one I think. It's quite good, not brilliant, but definitely worth a watch.

Are there any other decent programmes or mini series I've missed over the past couple of years? I'm thinking of watching Red Riding next, anyone seen that?

Line Of Duty on BBC2 and Secret State on Channel 4 were both excellent, brilliantly acted series that I have watched this year. Both are expected to dominate in the TV Baftas next year.

I'd second Line of Duty (with Lennie James and Gina McKee, also from Our Friends in the North). It was never really mentioned on here but I think there is a bit of an anti British bias so I wasn't really surprised. I've also been watching Last Tango in Halifax which I originally dismissed but has been great fun....though probably too cosy for you cynical types

Can't think of anything out there now, seems to be mostly soaps. In the last year I'd say only Good Cop was alright, but I think the problem is I watch too much American tv. When you've just finished watching season seven of The Shield and then put a British cop show like Scott and Bailey on it's just such a massive decline in quality that you can't even be arsed.

If you like Chris Morris's stuff then you've got to watch Julia Davis's, 'Nighty Night'. There's only two series (which is criminal) but it's a work of unparalleled genius IMO and one of the best comedies in the last ten years (if not longer). You have to let yourself get swept along with it but it's richly rewarding if you do.

Red Riding is awesome; proper telly.

First series of The hour as well.

The Red Riding Trilogy is excellent and well worth watching.
