I currently have Sky Tv but Virgin Media broadband.

My contract is due to expire with both of them at the end of August and was thinking of moving over to Sky Broadband.

My brother had it but said it was shit yet another mate has it and finds alright for what he needs.

Im currently on the 10mb with Virgin but being told i would only be able to receive 7mb from Sky.

I like the look of Sky Anytime + which you need Sky broadband for.

So anyone currently on Sky Broadband whats your verdict of it.

I'm happy with it. I have not tried any online gaming since switching over. I happy with sky+ and sky player/go. I workshifts but have good wifi access so its great for watching sports at weekends and nights.

Cheers mate.

I don't bother with online gaming although do download a bit so would probably go with the unlimited broadband.

Cheers mate,

Im not bothered about Sports or Movies as i stream all the matches i want to watch plus the movies i have probably either already seen or able to get a copy easy enough.

I can not ring Sky up until August 11th as that then leaves me with a month to go and they can not do me any offers until then.

If your looking to cancel your BB contract with VM, then you may want to ring up and give them your months notice, just as your last onctracted month starts.

VM will make you serve a months notice if I am not mistaken as they do that with their mobiles, so just get in touch with them just incase.

I've looked at sky broadband a few times. Its cheap but speed seems to vary a lot when you do a proper search rather than peoples impression. I guess that's down to bt's shite infrastructure so no change there then.

I decided not to take it as you have to keep your sky box plugged into the landline for 12 months and I find the 3 sky boxes we have affects the line even with filters. I dont see why they need the sky boxes plugged in to the landline for 12 months when its fucking broadband they are supplying.

I got it had problems for 8 months with it but that wasn't sky's fault and they helped with everything to get it fixed. Also refunded full 8 months I had problems with a bit of pressure on the phone.

If you can get 10mb with virgin keep it trust me cable is far better then telephone broadband.

I had nothing but trouble with Sky broadband when I had it.

It was because of my phone line though I think, my phone line was quite old and wasn't good enough to get the faster internet speeds.

Bare that in mind when you switch, Virgin is (mostly) fibre optic so isn't dependent on a good phone line like sky is.

To be fair that was same with me , but sky can't do a lot about it. All they can do is get BT and BT have some crappy engineers.

Yeah, didn't mean to sound as if it was sky's fault. Just saying that if you go from virgin to a phone-based internet then you have to take the state of your phone line into account.

IF sky have kit in your exchange (LLU) "Sky Unlimited £7.50 p/m" then it's great. If not then it's shit.

I`m on the unlimited package and it's awesome, really is unlimited and no drops in speed throughout the day/night. They had some problems over xmas in some areas but it's been excellent since then.

I've never had Sky broadband, I tend to stick with smaller providers than the big lumbering companies like Sky, Virgin and BT. But Sky are supposed to be a pain in the arse for broadband and their support is also a bit useless from what I hear since all their call centres are in India, manned by chaps who use European names. That's reassuring.

Aye that's 100% right , something I didn't look much into when buying a house. Wish I had , because stuck with below par broadband now. But internet speed ain't everything in life. My sons got nice place to grow up.

6 months ago I switched every thing over from Virgin to Sky as we were moving to the sticks. Whilst Sky Go is great for watching sport whilst in work everything else is shit compared to Virgin.

Aye Used cable for 7 years before moving and it was awesome. But hoping we gonna be one one of areas that gets fiber optic , fingers crossed.
