I thought Benitez might leave Mascherano out and move Gerrard into midfield. A good attacking side that. If we are up for it, we should rip these apart.

 

We shouldnt need a defensive midfielder against Hull so its a more positive move by Rafa.

 

Potential to bring on Babel but it is a pretty attacking lineup and an early goal would see us score a few.

That sort of thing gets said often, but it makes no sense to me.

 

For one, Lucas will play DM. Also, someone like Mascherano (when on song) will win you the ball high up the field and help you attack.

 

I'd agree what you don't need is someone like Mikel who basically becomes a 3rd centre half, but a terrier like Mascherano can help you beat these teams.

Depends how you rate them both I suppose coop, I would still rather have Mascherano personally but not so much that I'm going to complain about it.

 

I rate Mascherano a lot higher then i do Lucas but he is struggling for form so far this season.

 

I can see the benefits of him playing like Hamstrung has posted but also the benefits of not having him.

A nice attacking team. Agree that an early goal will set us up nicely here. Hopefully we will come out of the blocks well.
