Coz' they were playing against a bunch of teenagers?

5 experienced players and one of these teenagers probably cost us more than the value of the entire Plymouth squad. Holding us to a draw and get a replay back at their place was a sound decision from their manager.

Nah. It's a third tier competition and Sunderland showed there was little in the tank after the Christmas fixtures - we've got a semi-final and a trip to Old Trafford that could make or break the season. It was the right team, and the replay calls for something similar.

Unless there is significant investment in the squad - not the first XI - this is a decision that is going to have to be made again and again.

This.

Id play the kids again in the replay. Rather we didnt have a replay but it is what it is. PL is where it is.

We were shite but these things happen ....1974 Doncaster Rovers at home against a fourth Divison side we drew 2-2 and Doncaster hit the bar in the last minute...

We'll piss the replay but it's a game we could have done without.

Oh and we went on to win the Cup in 74

Aye, Keegan x2 Heighway against the Toon.

Strange game, that.

Normally when a lower league team takes a top flight team to a replay, you'd credit their performance and pick out some dogged defending etc.

Didn't see that from Plymouth today. Not to disrespect them, but they didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary to get the draw today. We were abysmal.

A really sloppy, unprofessional performance from us today. Too slow. Poor passing. Silly offsides and fouls.

Absolutely no complaints about the line up though. It should've been good enough to beat them. And, I fully understand the reasoning behind it.

Moreno couldn't cross a cheque. Woeful against a decent pub team. Shows lack of quality and depth in squad. A few not ready and a few not good enough. Dire.

Moreno and Origi were a disgrace, pair of lazy uninterested turds.

Shows that our squad is utter shite. We might have a good starting 11 but we have fuck all else. Still only a couple of injuries away from nosediving too.

Don't worry mate, FSG will buy some more cheap youngsters.

It's the biggest completion we're in that weve got even a small chance to win.

We're five points off the top of the league and in the semi final of a competition that offers pretty much the same prize. Furthermore, there's a top four spot that is by no means safe, and CL qualification means ten times more in today's game - the FA Cup has a great history, but that's what it is. Personally, I'd be happy to take a spot away from the league table and give it to the cup in order to rejuvenate the thing.

Some people are quacking as though we played with our first-choice XI out there today. There was no lack of effort by any of them, but there was a lack of inspiration to break down a team that simply sat back all game.

Regardless, we didn't create enough in the final third despite having something like 80% possession and as the game went on, we became more ragged and resorted to hit-and-hope too often, be it long-range shots or just playing it long and longing for knock-downs.

Plymouth did pretty much fuck all in this game. It never looked likely that they'd sucker-punch us. They just twatted the ball upfield in the first half any time they had the ball, and the only time they seemed to keep the ball in the second half in particular was when the (shit) referee gave them a non-existent free kick. When their right-back landing awkwardly on his ankle and had to come off on a stretcher, the ref gave them a free kick. It wasn't even close to being a foul.

Incidentally, why is it that whenever we play a 'lesser' European team or a lower division club, the commentators always point out how one or two of their players were boyhood Liverpool fans? Seriously, every single time. You never seem to hear it when other clubs play in these 'David vs Goliath' fixtures.

The squad isnt utter shite. We had an U23 side with a couple of first team squad members in it not the other way around.

That was about a bad a game of football as I have ever seen. Almost entirely without incident, passion or skill. The only memory of it will be the free kick given against Origi when the stupid cunt defender broke his fucking ankle -  it was never a foul.

When Can dictates the pace of our game you can guarantee it'll be fucking slow. Twat of a fucking game.

Let's not kid ourselves here they are a very poor side and our basically second string looked toothless and clueless. It was fucking embarrassing, the whole place was flat and the players were in cruise control. We played with all the urgency of a snail on Prozac.

It's weird as a similar team put in a far better performance in the league Cup.

Not that bothered about the replay as it isn't as if any of our main 11 will be playing , but quite a few of the young lads need a good game at Plymouth as the FA Cup will be their only games this season and if we get top 4 we will need to fill the squad out in summer.

Whole display was very slow in thought & action throughout and personally don't see anything special at all about Ejaria ,Ojo or Stewart ( at least the first 2 are still young ).

Who is the biggest upcoming star in our youth setup ? they all looked pretty mediocre, one would expect them to unfold them selves and try to show something.

Lad from the under 8's looked fucking awesome in the halftime kick about against Stoke.

Some bad bitter Bloo bellend in the Belmont was banging on* about "Don't disrespect the FA Cup".  I told the prick that there's nothing disrespectful about putting out a team that's capable of beating the opposition.  Refusing to even try to win the game is disrespectful to football.

That same starting XI will batter these pricks down at their godforsaken shithole.

Only saw about 20 mins of first half but Ejaria looked the best.

Should be just getting the job done instead of adding another fixture to an already crowded January.

It's OK saying we can rest players but we can't rest the manager who has another long journey and thousands of decisions to make.
