Jordan Henderson also failed to win a single tackle against Sevilla. He also didn't attempt an aerial duel. #SEVLIV

He gave away a free kick in each half for over-zealous tackles that I saw, though the second one was harsh. There's another stat knocking around that he gave away five fouls. So maybe it's down to an inability to tackle properly rather than a lack of character. Not that that helps us in any way.

Anyway, there comes a time when this becomes more an issue with the manager than the individual players picked to underwhelm or make the same mistakes again and again.

I don't think anyone is accusing him of being able to tackle.

If you look at the loyalty Klopp has given Moreno, Mingolet and Lovren you would have to assume we will be seeing Jordan with arm band and a place in the team for a long time yet.

And like all our previous managers, this refusal to see what everyone else can see will only end in tears all round

The good attributes to Henderson's game are always going to mean nothing if he doesn't adapt to the match situation. He's one of those players who conscientiously carries out the specific task requested of him by the coach, but with little understanding of the bigger picture and the need to be 'streetwise' at certain moments.

Nowhere is this more evident than in those situations when he needlessly keeps the ball alive and puts teammates in trouble instead of buying a cheap free kick, eating precious few seconds and checking the momentum being built up by the opposition. It has been most noticable in European away fixtures.

It doesn't require him to be a shithouse of the type favoured by Mourinho, but it requires a lot more nous and cunning than he appears capable of displaying. It has been a consistent issue for much of this decade, and Henderson has been a regular first-teamer in the engine room for much of that time.

With the exception of learning how to do diagonal passes I don't think he's improved significantly since we bought him.

Not good enough.  Him and Gini were like farts in the wind that second half.

Klopp needs to get a leader in.  It's not Hendo and it's not a man in our current squad.

Seven seasons he's been here now doing fuck all. Unbelievable

Id love us to get that Banega in to replace this dud. That break we had towards the end of the game last night were Can was about to square it to Mane and Banega came out of nowhere to block it and put it out for a corner was basic football to him, yet when anyone breaks against us, Henderson is nowhere near our box let alone with the play.

Hes had enough chances to impress here and he was only ever good in the Suarez season.

A nothing player who won't be missed.

Sums him up. Henderson just saunters back waiting for someone else to do it. That nonchalant walk he does after we score concede winds me up.

He had a bad game, no two ways about it. That second half was shocking from several of them, but as captain you need to try to get the team to wake up and at least refuse to be steamrollered.

I do not see another potential captain at the club who is definitely ahead of him at this stage. Most of the others are flawed in their own ways, or in and out the side. Unless we’re going to go with Mane or Salah as captain, Henderson should remain the choice for now, which is not to say he won’t lose the armband, and possibly his spot in the side, if Klopp strengthens the team enough.

Add VVD, Keita and Goretzka and the landscape significantly changes.

The sad thing is every side in the league has a Jordan Henderson in it....

Well that is apart from the top sides who wouldn't touch this kind of player and yet here we are 7 years down the line with him still playing in a crucial position but not only that he's also club captain.

I think it's kind of amazing that we actually manage to compete at all when you have the likes of Lovren, Moreno, Mignolet (Karius), Klavan, Gini, Henderson playing week in week out.

Not sure if anyone has a gif of it - but prior to their third goal last night he lost a tackle on the edge of the area that he simply had to win!. He didn't just lose he allowed the player to get past him and have a shot - in the last minute!

It just isn't good enough - he's been all over this Liverpool midfield, and doesn't excel anywhere. No reason to sell - a good squad player. But should not be starting. And should not be captain.

But until January we are going to have to persist. We may have to persist until next season!

His only valuable asset is his energy/stamina. He's got zero tactical nouse, his technique is really poor under pressure and his lack of balls even more damning. Hopefully soon relieved of his captain duties and relegated to the bench/sold. Can't stand him.
