Lucas is the closest we get at the moment. In 6 months maybe Firmino. And of course I expect a couple of new players with leadership qualities to be brought in.

That's what annoys me most about Hendo. He really doesn't fancy himself in tight situations, and his technique isn't refined enough for him to pull off one touch football consistently.

 

Agreed, that's his biggest problem. He is incapable of turning on the ball and he lacks the intelligence and ability to either find space in the middle or finesse his way through with the ball when he is marked tightly.

Not enough end product to his game. Great energy to get up and down but it has to be effective and make a difference - its sadly just all huff and puff from him and has been for some time.

He wears the captains armband and it isn't all about just running and trying - its about controlling and delivering.

 

Another centre-mid who has to step up, and step up in the control of a game and also in the technical side of his game. 

 

The clock is going to start ticking for him if he can't start delivering some sort of end product.

In fairness I didn't see Gerrard as much of a captain in that if you weren't pulling your weight the most he'd do is give you evils and then slag you off in his autobiography.
