It's not often you see a news story that genuinely makes you feel good about humanity.  This one does.

http://www.itv.com/news/2017-05-11/child-cancer-survivor-working-alongside-nurse-who-saved-her/

A student who was inspired to become a nurse by the woman who saved her life has found herself training alongside the same woman.

When Clara Markiewicz was four she was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia and given only a 50% chance of survival, but thanks to the care and treatment she received she overcame the deadly disease.

Ms Markiewicz recounted how the nurses who treated her became her "friends" and "role models" after long periods spent on an isolation ward.

The care the 20-year-old received from the nurses influenced her to such an extent that becoming a nurse "was the only thing" she could see herself becoming when she grew up.

The 20-year-old followed her dreams and is now training to be a paediatric nurse in Southampton.

Just three days into a placement Ms Markiewicz recognised a familiar face: Kate Pye, one of the nurses who treated her as a child, and Ms Pye recognised her too.

Ms Pye said the fact that her former patient had decided to become a nurse was "inspirational".

She continued: "It was very emotional actually and it was lovely to see her, and the fact that she's come into children's nursing after what she's been through as a child, is just inspirational."

How so?

Our 30 hours of free childcare kicks in now she's 3, she's also moving to a nursery connected to a school rather than a private nursery.  Where she's going charge £2 a day for breakfast club and £8 for after school club.

My parents are going to pick her up 3 times a week so the week will be broken down as such:

3 x days breakfast club only = £6

2 x days  Breakfast & afterschool = £20

Even if my folks are away for the week it'll still only be £50 a week.

I was looking forward to having extra money but it's been decided that we're saving for a wedding and a Florida holiday

Yup.  To be fair the wedding is long overdue.  We've been together 6 years today (eek flowers on the way home) engaged and living together for over 5, 3 year old child, mortgage etc.  I even wear a ring, albeit a Topman sterling silver ring I got in the sales.  I also reference her as my wife because that ends the conversation whereas if you say fianceé then you get the "ooo how did you propose? when are you going to tie the knot?" spanish inquisition

Fucking hell! I can remember posts from you asking how to upload home made porn videos onto the Internet and online dating advice.

How times change.

My mortgage payments are going down by £40 a month from 1st August.

Unfortunately my days of suitcases full of cocaine, playmates of the year & throwing TVs out of hotel windows are long gone & it'll be going into savings.

Still, nearly £500 a year better off.

An example of the real heroes in our society who are criminally underpaid.

Just come back from a bit of a bender in town with her and the kids and their partners and we got a cab back with an Asian fella who was dead sound. Turns out he was looking to move to our area but the family were a bit apprehensive as they thought they might face terrible discrimination.

We gave him a tour of our place, garden etc and he was so made up he's going to put a bid in on the house next door which is for sale. That made me feel better than I have in ages as nowadays I'm mostly just a useless bevvy head.

Sometimes being nice makes you feel nice.

Get into work this morning to find an email from HR, they've underpaid me by 2 hours a week since October, work owe me nearly a grand.

Just thought - if they've fucked up my pay because my contracted hours were wrong they've probably fucked up my leave entitlement too.

Should be a couple of extra days leave.
