He’s so good there’s a thread on GOT talking about how good he is.

Bet they still reckon he's not as good as Dixie Dean even though there's no footage of him playing and no one alive has ever seen him play.  There's just a couple of photos of him standing by some goalposts or running out of the players tunnel.

Salah with 8 goals already in the league this season, I decided to take a look at how quick he has reached that tally in his other seasons with us.

Last season he did not get there before in the middle of February and only in the 21/22 season did he reach 8 goals before the beginning of November.

23/24: Scored his eight PL goal on the 29th of October

22/23: Scored his eight PL goal on the 13th of February

21/22: Scored his eight PL goal on the 24th of October

20/21: Scored his eight PL goal on the 8th of November

19/20: Scored his eight PL goal on the 14th of December

18/19: Scored his eight PL goal on the 8th of December

17/18: Scored his eight PL goal on the 18th of November

It still feels like he's underrated doesn't it? He's been so good for so long that certainly outside of the club, his achievements don't get the recognition they deserve.

Scores tons of goals and is always available. Probably only be when he's retired when people will look back on his numbers and realise how good he was.

To be fair 20/21 the season doesn't start till late because of COVID. 8th November can't have been many games into the season.

TBF the only season he scored a penalty kick in the first half of a season was '21 when he had one.

Has 3 so far this season. Hope that continues.

198 goals now for us, I was a bit pessimistic when I said he would probably reach 200 goals before Christmas early in October .

He just need two more goals and we have have nine games left before Christmas.

Obviously we should be looking to extend by at least another couple of years. Time and time again he’s proven those who think it’s the opportune time to cash in are demented, and next summer will be no different.

If the Saudis want him and he really wants to go and play in front of the dozens and dozens of fans their league attracts, we shouldn’t settle for anything short of £300m, even with a year remaining. They can afford it, and it’s going to be impossible to replace him with anyone close to his level.

I’m not convinced he’d care to go there after seeing how small-time it looks in spite of the money they’ve thrown at it though - I’m more concerned that he might like to give another European league a go.

He's been great this season and there was zero rationale to selling him last summer, but there will come a time where his numbers will be empty a la Cristiano Ronaldo at Juve and Man United and he isn't making us better.

Players of his age, you have to let them go the season before the decline, not when they're actually in decline. It will be a very delicate situation.

This is exactly right.

Mo is absolutely brilliant, and will go down as one of our greatest ever players. But despite that, at some point he will lose his physical edge and his level will fall off a cliff - it happens to everyone.

There is a pretty solid argument to be made that he might stretch that cliff out for a season or two beyond normal players - he certainly takes very good care of himself! However, as you say, you would rather let a player go a season too early than one too late, and it will be touch and go (and probably, in the end, come down to the offer that is made for a fee) as to whether he's sold or gets an extension.
