He tried to rest Stevie and Carra because they'll play in three days time - his priority is the league in rightly so. He also had to play a youth player in Robinson for having so many injuries at left back.

 

He should, however, have played another central midfielder, Jonjo for instance

Abysmal referring performance but the kids weren't ready for the physicality of this fixture. That falls on Rodgers.

 

Lee Probert made a hatful of errors, ignoring lots of "physicality" which contituted fouls. He bottles decisions a lot.

That's one reason, the "physicality" which is actually cheating, why we're falling behind Spain and Germany in the quality of play in our league. It's rife right through the youth game, meaning dumb strength and athleticism is wrongly rewarded over skill and astute decision making. That means the wrong types of player make it through our system in my view.

Nah but really, not a good performance. Made some horrendous defensive errors that cost us, we still quite easily could and should have turned it into a replay and even a win. We had Sturridge, Downing, Gerrard, Suarez, Sterling blasting it wide from good positions, and then Gerrard hitting a corker into the crossbar. And some more deflections after that.

I'm not going to go over what the problems with this Liverpool side are...we all know where they lie...other than....we are a team of lightweights who crumble when the heat is on. Mentally weak pussies.

Well that was poor, not helped by our individual mistakes for the 2nd and 3rd, and refereeing decisions at crucial times throughout. But if the ref is going to let teams try and kick us out of the game we need to deal with it, and some of our players let that happen today.

 

It's easy to come out and say that we should have played Gerrard and Carragher, however we have a huge game in 3 days time and it made sense to rest them. Unfortunately we didn't have the players with the experience to step in for a game like this.

 

Very disappointed, but more concerned about the Arsenal game and that we get the right players out there with the right gameplan and attitude.

 

Also Coates, and particularly Robinson, need to go out on loan to learn their trade, Robinson is nowhere near ready to be playing for us.

 

Finally anyone who was recently saying that Gerrard should be dropped should be banned from ever voicing any opinion about football ever again. He is still the heart of this team.

On paper the team was easily good enough to beat Oldham.

 

The uncomfortable reality was that a big dope of a striker caused us all sorts of problems and the lack of strength in central midfield cost us again.

BR picked the wrong team. we were basically 424 with that line up and the writing was on the wall within 2 mins. Sterling didn't track the left back for the 1st goal and coates was beaten too easily in the air (as he was all day). 2nd goal was down to Jones and the third was Robinson and Borini between them.

 

All of the above plus sturridge were a disgrace today. Either didn't want to know or didn't like the rough stuff. The lack of effort from most of the team in the last 20 mins was disappointing as well. Just throwing the ball forward was pointless.

 

missed out on a home tie with Everton which would have been great but fair dues to oldham they deserved it. we were atrocious.
