  1. Brother picked this up in a little Japanese second-hand book store. Says ‘Funny, touching and full of surprises, this is a book that like the man himself will appeal to all age groups’ on the back.

  5. ill be brutally honest and seem to be finding the monotony of being middle aged rather tough at times. nothing negative in my life per se, but generally just finding life hard at the moment. ive no money worries what so ever, have a wife and two young children, all healthy. the young lad is on the spectrum, i definitely find that difficult, dealing with the tantrums etc..... maybe its the fact you see your friends less, or that your time is less "your time" when hit your 40's that i find awkward, i dont know, i cant put my finger on it. some days i feel rather down about it, the little things like waking up and having to get someone else sorted before looking after yourself. i know i sound like a selfish prick, and i dare never say it to the wife. But it can be bloody draining cant it.

  6. Monday Dec 25: Oh my God, that video with Daire. That’d bring tears to a glass eye. What a fucking fantastic kid he is. So mature for his age and what a great attitude he’s got. The older I get the more of an emotional mess I am, I’m choking up at all kinds of shit these days, but I make no apologies for getting all choked up watching this. I’ve been a bit mad at Kloppo the last few days after the daft shit he said last week, but what a man he is. When he said to Daire that he enjoyed meeting him as much as Daire enjoyed being there, you know he meant it. It was also heart warming when Diaz and Nunez came in to see him and they both just hugged him and Diaz gave him a kiss on the head. Great lads, that kid will never forget that moment and how affectionate they were with him. The club’s social media team have been sitting on this for weeks and waited until Christmas morning to release it. Meanwhile, good stuff today from Virg on Konate (and Quansah). “I speak a lot with him about certain things because it’s my duty to share experiences with him. He’s still learning and he can be even better than he is. Same goes with Jarell. I’ve been in the game for quite a while now and been quite successful. I try to give that to the young players. “These players at this age are even better than I was. But obviously it’s about doing it in the long run. I’m pleased for how he is now but he can be even better, he can progress. It’s nice to see the progression and development, it’s nice to see that they listen. Let’s see what it brings.” It’s a good point and people probably don’t think too much about it. Konate is light years ahead of where Virgil was at the same age, but Quansah is too. Much better at 20 than Virgil was. Doesn’t really mean anything in terms of what he’ll be like when he’s 25, but it’s encouraging, especially as he’s being tutored by the man himself. Virgil is the best I’ve ever seen though and I doubt we’ll see another like him. If either of them can get close then we’re very lucky.

  9. And what if city don't go on a crazy run and just go on a decent run, dropping some points along the way? This is a season where it looks like they can't hit a stupid total, so we should be doing everything we can to get as close to 90 points, which will probably win it. In fact it would be a surprise if it needed quite that many from here. City are exactly half way through their games and are on 40 points. They still have to come to us and we have a good record at anfield against them. The maximum points they can hit is 97, winning their remaining 19 games. Which means to hit 90 points they could only draw 2 and lose one for the rest of the season. This league is winnable, but the squad is on its arse and we're about to lose 2 of our mainstays of the last month for a.month and now have Kostas on the long term list, which stretches the defence with only 4.5 players fit. And we have a league cup semi double header and the arsenal cup game, which will impact the legs of the players who are available. And I'm assuming we'll want to win one if not both of the cup ties. We've 2 players who are effectively finished with us as their contracts are done in the summer and one won't play agaon this season and the other hasn't played at all yet, being about a month away from fitness since the first training session of pre-season. We just need to bite the bullet and bring forward planned purchases for the summer to replace the pair. It's not a massive financial risk or exposure. But it might just help us pinch one or two more points that could make all the difference over the 18 games we'll have after today. If we're serious about winning titles, the squad will get some support this month. If we're happy to sit back and let city win the title while we're just content to be back in the CL, we won't.

  10. I don't have any spiritual or religious beliefs so I think that helps shape my outlook a lot. I won't be here forever and in a hundred years I'll be pretty much forgotten so the only things that are truly important are the happiness of me, my kids and the people around me. Little things that happen during a day and at work don't stress me as they're only things that are being done at a point in time and I have bigger priorities than things like my career. I view money as a means to an end and I'm not impressed by expensive things. I've been to places with very wealthy people through work and experienced things probably not many get to but I'm happier having a week in Benidorm on the piss with my mates. In contrast Monaco for example is my idea of hell on earth. As with anyone I have cycles of good and bad times. The only way through the bad times is making the little changes I can to make things better and to not waste time worrying about things I can't change. That can be easier said than done at times and as a single dad there are times loneliness has kicked in a little despite having lots of friends but I know that all times pass and those times do too. Overall I think I'm a decent fella and try to be friendly to people I meet if they are to me. I see myself as no better or worse than anyone else and I'm quite happy with that.

  12. I think Jota probably does exaggerate the fall, call it a dive if you like. But so what? He was clearly fouled and it was a clear pen, and these days we constantly hear that players are entitled to go down if there's contact (never mind contact which the attacker has initiated, clearly not the case here). Does this unwritten "rule" (and it's shrugs of acceptance indeed in some cases applauded) not apply to Liverpool players? Funny that, another one of those different rules we seem to have to play by.

  15. Hey, Eddie, how about you take your misgivings and injustices out on City at home in the next game? Plenty of fuel to fire your lads up in front of a home crowd. Yeah, some managers just get sacked...

  16. A thoroughly enjoyable night, tempered only by my decision to replace triple captain Mo with Julian Alvarez. Also, im probably guilty of it myself and ill be called out for the hypocrite i am, however, given we are top of the league at this point of the season, it does stick in the craw when you read some oft he abuse the players get on here from some. Im not talking about how good or not you think they are, i mean the bizarre personal insults people throw.

  24. Looking forward to this, I think we will give them a good hiding actually. They are dead on their feet, and this is not the game where they will save their season. Will be my first game at Anfield since 2014 (WBA at home). Hoping the weather isn’t too bad. Caught the fireworks at Albert Dock earlier, and it was more than a bit windy!

  30. sorry, but while he contributes to winning games the way he has, you're obsessing over trying to detract from his performances. Can you name a player who could come in and improve on what we've seen recently? I don't think he's a world beater, but I don't think we'll find someone markedly better than him. The last half dozen performances would absolutely be comparable with Makelele.

  39. I think they will set up like lampard's Everton team did at anfield a while back and try to use Gordon in the same way in the space Trent vacates inside instead of upfield and go down if a player gets within 5 yards of him. I don't expect them to have focus on anything other than 0-0, time waste from the opening kick and hope we (or the officials) drop a bollock and give them a chance. They were the biggest shithouses at anfield last season, time wasting from the opening minute with the keeper faking injury. I expect absolutely no different today. Beheadie is a massive cunt and that kicking they took the other day even gives him a pass to set up like this.

  40. Oh i hear you...but it was a deliberate comparison....plenty of people think Thiago will just walk back into our side and be boss after he has barely kicked a ball for not far off 12 months and has bits falling off him....Yet at same time people say Toney will be fucked because he has missed months banned.

  42. I read the opening post then couldn't read anyone else's input (although I did see a window les mis perv gif and checked) Changes constantly. Right this second I'm positive for the future I guess. Last 5/6 months I've been fighting my own head not to get to the place where I was hoping I could spend a day getting as drunk as I can to just end it all. Citalopram has helped but mistakes and shit.... I'm a good lad but I'm too impulsive and make stupid mistakes. The world's a cunt hole but another way of looking at it is, the worlds the cunt hole that you make it. For all the shit in the world, there's some fucking brilliant people on this planet and it's time we all gravitated towards that. If you're happy or sad or unsure, I hope you find a way to breath in and remind yourself that you're the lucky one. xx Oh and Dire Straits are boss.
