Another fella who thinks people should be allowed a vote only after he approves it.You don't get the idea of democracy do you?

What are you talking about?

I voice genuine concerns about the problems I can see by Proporational Representation, and for the record I don't think Biggoted little pricks should be allowed a say on a national platform because of an electoral quirk.

So what? You think that Cameron and the Conservatives actually give a flying fuck about Liverpool? Or Birkenhead? Or Sunderland? Or Barnsley? Of course they fucking don't. Too "bolshy" for their liking. Unreliable. Too opinionated.

If it's "hard-wired" into our pschye to be against the Tories, then it's also hard wired into the Tories collective pschye to be against Liverpool. Or any of the places that opposed the dear Mrs Thatcher in the 1980's.

And on the subject of your post- you mentioned corruption. What, that never existed before then? And a police state? Have you ever seen footage of the riots or the miner's strikes? Finally, you mention the country being skint. Hardly the governments fault, a worldwide recession. Incidentally, under Thatcher, unemployment hit 3.3 million. It's never been that high since.

Say what you like about this government but as far as the Tories are concerned a leopard never changes its spots.

The goverment's not to blame for anything.Nu labour give a fuck about Liverpool because it's a handy for their placemen and the lackeys who vote for them.Total surveillance and a nation wide DNA database ,real unemployment figures nearer 5m,Blair on 500k a month, corruption(unoticed by you)right through all parties. You've got a Ted Bundy was a prick but Peter Sutcliffe wasn't that bad arguement there.I blame the Duke of Wellington.

Clegg will obviously speak to Cameron. He is in a strong position and he knows it, even if it's a token gesture he will still listen to what Cameron has to offer. Would be very surprised if anything comes of it though, wouldn't worry yet.

Beeb radio pundits reporting Glegg will support a Tory government.

It's called an opinion not an electoral quirk. As I said you just don't get the idea of democracy you prefer an oligarchy.

I think If I said you nane was jimb you would say it wasn't, so lets leave it there, you are obviously agitating for a scrap and I can't be arsed.

If you think PR is perfect then fine. I don't, for the reasons I have suggested.

It's there for others to see, sorry but I didn't once state they are not allowed an opinion, you infered that!

I am wary (is that okay?) that exteme views are given more prominance in a PR system, that is all.

But I am off home now, so until Monday with a new ConDem government to look forward. Bye.

He's not on to be honest. Loads of people voted Lib dem to keep the fuckers out. Now he is going to suck Camerons cock.

True but a lot of people also voted for them when they were the main opponent to Lab for precisely the same reason.

Not as many i grant you but still more than a few.

That's why i am very surprised they did so crap overall as they got tactical votes from both sides.

Man, so many posts to respond to and so little time. Can we straighten out this nonsense about nobody voting Brown for PM once and for all please? Of course they didn't, they never do, that's not the system we have here. As much as people might vote with that in mind it simply is not the system we have. You vote for an MP, that MP joins a group of other like-minded MPs in a group and they pick a leader. That's how it works. We don't have a fucking president so please...for the love of Keith...shut the fuck up with this unelected bollocks!

And also, for those whinging that "This isn't democracy", it is. It clearly is. It just isn't the type you want. I personally don't think that having massively differing media budgets is democratic but there we go. Am I the only person who is concerned that PR is going to lead to a situation where toeing the party line is more prevalent and that money and the media are given even more power as the whole thing gets presidential?

I love the idea that de-regulation is the answer to our ills too, Catch. Although I accept that on the smaller level this may well be a problem for SMEs, to not be, at least partly, burnt by the fact that the de-regulated banks, and de-regulated loan-sharks selling blaxploitation mortgages in the US, nearly toppled your world-view is, well, slightly mental.

If the LibDems join up with Labour, am I right in thinking they still won't have enough seats between them to form government?

Therefore, isn't the Conservative/LibDem coalition the only one that will get past the 326 seats needed?

Should be an interesting couple of days.

That's correct. To avoid any further complications and delays, Clegg should join the Tories in a coalition. That way we'll have a new government with the minimum of fuss, Labour out on their arse, and a bit of lefty lunacy to dilute the ruling Tories which should satisfy the socialists who have been left disappointed with the results. That way everybody is happy. Except Labour and their supporters. But after 14 years of power, nobody should give a fuck about them now anyway.

Hmmm, I reckon most socialists had a wild idea that they weren't going to do too well this time round, you know, what with all the parties thinking privatisation of everything is boss.

I reckon it's the people who thought they were going to have a good night but then woke to find out that even at such a low ebb the country still isn't willing to give tory policy a mandate that will be most gutted.

I want to see Cameron throw a proper tantrum on tv. I'm talking crying, throwing himself on the floor and screaming "It's just not fair, Wupert told me on his boat I could be in charge, Gordon's a rotter!"

If It's a Con/Lib coalition, hopefully Vince Cable becomes Chancellor, that's the least we can fucking hope for.

Either that or Clegg realises what a monumental mistake this could be.

Anyway, could we have another election?

It's not democratic when the will of the people is not being accurately represented. A quarter of the votes but 1/12 of MPs. How do you square something like that with the will of the people being represented, then?

I personally don't think that having massively differing media budgets is democratic but there we go.

If you want to ban private donations altogether and have state funding of political parties based on vote share, you'll find no argument from me.

Am I the only person who is concerned that PR is going to lead to a situation where toeing the party line is more prevalent and that money and the media are given even more power as the whole thing gets presidential?

Yes, because what it would actually lead to (under STV in multi-member constituencies at least) is the exact opposite.

Nobody, I don't think, is arguing for a party list system where political parties decide which candidates gets elected in what order.

Pundits pointed out Glegg’s election pledge, in the event of a hung parliament, was to support the party with the most seats.

Many felt it would be “dishonourable” for Labour to cling to power after such a poor result.

Others explained Clegg would support the Tories, “on the end of a long leash”, which would be given a sharp tug when events get out of hand. Apparently it’s how these coalitions function on the continent.

The Old Etonian ignored his Oscar Wilde by announcing, “it’s in the national interest”, for the Libs to support the Tories.

Makes me appreciate the merit of suicide bombing.

It's quite easy. All the people in my area, that could be bothered turning Corry off, got together and picked the person they wanted to represent them. The people then sent that person to parliament. If he sucks then next time we'll send someone else.

You might not agree with it but you can't argue it's not the will of the people.

It's the will of a minority of the people, and the majority can go fuck themselves.

If the Queens speech doesn't get through parliament on May 26th (I think that's the date) then we could have another election. Also if it does get through then if the coalition breaks down, a motion of no confidence in the government can be put forward.

In the past we had elections in three successive years. 1922, 1923, 1924. Also two elections in the same year, 1910.
