I agree with those who say that Dirk is awful right now (as opposed to adequate at his best), but the lack of options for our left wing and right back positions means I'd play him anyway. At least with more quality around him his deficiencies are less glaring and there are other players who can compensate for his shite touch, pace and passing.

Agree with most of this, but their squad is a lot better than ours overall.

It really isn't. My cousin (mother's side) is a Manc ST holder. He thinks its the worst squad they've had in ages. They are massively reliant on Rooney and fucking Fletcher - a player who most scum fans wanted to sell to Everton 3 years ago. Rio is a crock, they don't have a right back, outwide they lack a threat they are accustomed to having and they still don't have a decent partner for Rooney. They just have a manager who can gel players together and get more out of them for what you would expect. It was said on another thread but its amazing what a positive mindset can overcome

Dirk kuyt must be dropped he was absolutely abysmal tonight, im shocked at how bad he's become. Also insua doesn't seem to know where he is on the pitch or when someone is behind him sneaking round the back. I know this was a nothing game but by the end i was punching the sofa and screaming at the tv. Aqualani and torres being on the pitch are the only good things about tonight.

Rafa's completely lost it, he's not capable of getting any kind of performance out of his players now no matter what his selection. Feel sorry for Darbs but hopefully he'll take it on the chin and move onwards and upwards. It's quite sad to see what was a great manager for us who will always be remembered favourably in our history decline so rapidly, there's no way he can turn it around, I actually feel sorry for him now.

Must admit, he surprised me. After Gerrard, I thought he was our best player. Good job, too...

I agree with you there Paul. Kuyt is not playing well, but his work rate causes enough trouble that, for me, he should start against Arsenal in front of Johnson.

Aurelio has to start also. Insua, from a good start, is going more and more backwards and needs to be dropped.

I'd like to see Cavalieri play in more league games, just to keep him sharp. There's plenty of home games where Reina has very little to do other than take a few goal kicks.

It wouldn't hurt to play Cavalieri in these games just to keep him involved, and while he might not have much to do it's better than him sitting on the bench.

Or maybe, heaven forbid, he could even play for the reserves.

I don't know what the rest of the post match reaction is, but I'd start with Aqualani, I thought our midfield looked sharp and full of energy with the triangle of Masch Aqua and SG, add Torres up front and I like it to be honest.

We throw Lucas back in and its side ways back and the same old predictable rubbish.

It sounds to me a few people have been a bit harsh on the lad. Just going by your post and what you answered Kurt. Not having a pop by the way.

Yer right about Lucas but we all know he'll be back in there Sunday barring an Injury mate , its nailed on.

For his team mates maybe, but not the opposition.

Kuyt is just so fucking bad it's offensive. Rafa is sticking two fingers up at the fans by playing this guy continually IMO. Rafa ffs, you're meant to be a politician, if you don't start making a few populist moves soon you'll be out on your arse and you'll only have yourself to blame you stubborn bugger.

By the way did anyone get the final Dirk-watch stats?

Gerrard was awful to while we are at it.

Aquilani? I can see why Rafa has been so cautious with him. The defensive side of his game is just not there, players just run past him and then he runs behind them for a bit seems to be the sum of it. Reason we lost control and we looked porous.

Even though he wasn't his imperious best, I thought his dead ball play was superb; he created loads of decent chances that were spurned. I agree with you on Aquilani though.

Don't take this personally, but are we now playing players because they work hard, and totally forget the fact that there stinking the house out?

What do you mean "now"?
