Would thoroughly recommend finding a decent osteopath in your area. Would always be my first port of call with anything related to back or neck pain/lack of mobility.

Myself, ex, stacks of close friends have all had superb results from one, having all hit various different versions of a brick wall within the NHS. I think it's one of those things which falls between the cracks of what they provide, personally.

Was unimpressed by the blatant fearmongering and attempted profiteering I received from a chiropractor first as well, but would freely admit that is the only encounter I've had with one and he doesn't represent them all.

Yeah I saw a chiropractor a few years ago but it was costing a small fortune and wasn't seeing much in way of results or a plan so jibbed it.

I get free healthcare with work, but when I asked the doctor for a referral to someone who's helped others out my doctor wouldn't give me the referral saying it's not on her list of things or people she can refer to.

They do have a bit of a rep for just breezily telling you to come back every week at fifty quid a pop, as though they accept payment in Monopoly money.

It was certainly my sole experience, coupled with the fella telling me my back would completely give out within a year if I didn't do so. At 31. I ever so politely told him to fuck off.

Yeah, work insurances tend to have what's on their list and no exceptions. Shame on that one mate, I know PPP for example will refer to them, so some do.

I would really give it a try to find one even if you can only afford a handful of sessions over a month or two privately. Can make all the difference and really surprise you with the relief you get.

As Remmie says, potential for long-term benefits too if they correct the underlying issue. Have had to shell money I didn't want to on various things like that and it was always worth it.

Nothing can be done? That sounds like bullshit. See a specialist if you haven't already, at the very least I'm sure the pain can be reduced at least.

Do you do any exercises like the founder? What about realignment exercises?

What they said.

I dont believe nothing can be done either. Like Dr Nowt, though, I dont think your answer's in the NHS. I just doesnt seem to do 'contact therapy' for pain or mobility issues.

(I'm boring myself here) but I have had amazing results for a variety of issues with a combination of manipulation and exercise. It aint cheap but in the scheme of things is a small price to pay to be able to lead an active or just pain free life. And in my experience the more active you are the the fewer isues you'll have. Sports injury clinics seem to get good reviews

Constantly being surprised by the younger generation's inability to write faultless English (I am by no means perfect but it annoys me when English teachers correct the reports I write and clearly haven't got a clue about punctuation and grammar).

I am constantly berated by friends and family for sending texts and messages in full sentences, with punctuation. I am led to believe this is somewhat passe.

Anyway, any fellow pedants might be interested in an apostrophe placing quiz on the BBC News website. I got 9/10 and I am sure we have lots of potential full scorers on here.

I'm just in a constant level of pain, some days it's very painful other days not so painful. I have a sliding scale of how much I want to commit dependent upon the level of pain.

The doctors say "It's because I'm tall"

Nothing they can do for me, apparently, no, just suck it up and go about your business, in pain.

I'm sure Melons would give you relief...

Feeling old because I just can't get back into a band. There's just nothing about. So I'm retiring. The dream is over at 42.

Still a bass player, just twanging my instrument alone these days.

can't you start one?  there must be some musos around too shy to start their own band up
