Mushrooms

How was your omlette, Mr Noos? Thinking of having the very same this very evening in front of my newly downloaded IT Crowd series 1.

Omlette was ace mate. Got in late from work but thankfully had Sky+ watching the game for me, ready to relay it once I'd whipped up the grub. Popped in a few oven chips, cracked open a can of lager, and rustled up the cheesey omlette with smoked bacon (had no ham), mature cheddar and, because I am a proper man, some coarsely chopped large flat mushrooms. Bit of pepper and a very light sprinkling of oregano.

Then sat down to watch the game on about a 15 minute delay, which meant I could x30 the fucking half-time guff too. It don't get much better than that.

Mushrooms are the second best food in the world, after meat.

That is a very big call that is, Mr.Ross. Second best food after meat? Not saying you're not right, but I'd need to give that some serious thought.

You'd notch mushies above a block of extra mature cheddar cheese then?

Another noos up on the poll eh?

Mushrooms are fantastic food. Not liking them is the same as bumming goats - unacceptable and frowned upon generally.

For me the king of mushrooms is this little beast found growing freely in the forest near our house:

The chanterelle

Things I wouldn't do with a mushroom-hater:

1. trust them

2. trip the light fandango with them

3. share a tent with them

4. sit in front of them on the bus

People who don't like mushrooms should be made to sign a register and be stamped with a symbol so that normal people know who they are and what they're doing.

For real. I like cheese, but I couldn't just eat a block, neat. Whereas I could quite happily fry up some shrooms and just chow down. Diggidy!

Doesn't get a lot better, except for the fact that oven chips are for women on diets and gayers. You've let yourself down a bit there Noos.

Don't have a deep fat fryer (would you believe) and didn't have time to nip to chippy. McCain Homefries are not a bad substitute to be fair.

I've partaken of the mushroom feast this evening. Same as Noos' but with smoked ham and chestnut mushrooms, a tad of oregano and a small sprinkle of flaked chilles. And I had mine with proper, deep fried in a pan maris piper chips, not the wimmins gaylord oven chips that Noos favours.

Woah there! I never said "favoured"! Oven chips were to hand and I was in a rush!
