Never liked us playing “weakened” teams and then relying on bringing on senior players if things aren’t going well, but I appreciate how resting important players works before league or CL games too.

LASK will be right up for this game and will probably come at us from the kick off, it’s probably a big deal for them, and while they aren’t the same quality as Ajax we’re back in 1966 (with Cruyff, Nanninga etc.) we shouldn’t underestimate them too much or we might find ourselves playing catch up, especially with our propensity for giving away goals.

Klopp will surely know how to approach this best, and will name an appropriate team and if we play to our strengths we’ll be good.

The competition has second priority to the League, I expect, but still has a big shiny thing to win and we are about winning big shiny things.

Dublin beckons and what a party that would be if we get there. Make it so Reds.

Probably only Mac, Szobo, Mo and Robbo could do with a break.  Everyone else should be good to go, so we could go pretty strong whilst giving a few squad players some action.

Liverpool squad for LASK: Alisson, Gomez, Endo, Van Dijk, Konate, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Mac Allister, Salah, Jones, Gakpo, Elliott, Jota, Tsimikas, Robertson, Matip, Gravenberch, Bajcetic, Doak, Jaros, Kelleher, Quansah.

No TAA

Decent squad, that.  No sign of playing the kids.

We have plenty of options without needing kids.

Ok we are a bit pushed in defence - but that aside we are ok.

Likes of Gravenberch, Endo and Elliott need minutes and we have 6 forwards for 3 spots that we can rotate as we wish.

I'd be looking at a largely rotated side from wolves, then back to a side more similar to the wolves game for west ham then largely back to the side for tomorrow in the milk cup next week.

Things like 2 years ago for example Matip played all the league games pretty much and Konate the cup and europe - this year same idea but other way around and now we have bin bagged the crocks and the statues we pretty much have the ability to rotate and still be strong across the park. We aren't stuck needing to overplay players because the crocks can't step in or play too many kids because we have no other choice.

Even the outfield  "kids" in that 23 - Bajcetic, Doak & Quansah - have all shown enough to suggest that they're ready for this level of opponent.

This is the U21 side in the EFL Trophy tonight, I assume none of these will be available Thursday.

I’d have thought Clarke, McConnell, Koumas, Fraundorf, Chambers etc might have been in the squad for Thursday…

Never heard of the cunts! That Jay Spearing is one for the future though.

Disappointed in a sense with the squad but not surprised.  There's always too much talk of blooding youngsters in the Uefa Cup when CL is off the table, it never works out like that especially now it's a route back into the CL.  We do have players who need games at the moment but it won't be too long until we're struggling with the fixtures due to our relatively small squad.

It does make sense considering the limited options.

Thought he may have put Gomez or even Endo there....seems a lot to ask kid in first start back in ages to play in a position he isn't used to.

But he must trust him so fair do's. Probably sees him as better fit to drift into midfield and spray it about against weak opposition.

Familiar surnames there.... at least three the children of ex-pros.

I support Nepotism FC not Liverpool FC.
