Transgender stuff - what's going on?

I must say the whole "they" thing seems ludicrous to me. It would have been better to come up with a completely new pronoun. Also is this a thing in languages other than english? Isn't this going to be a bit more challenging in French and Spanish for example.

I mean, this makes perfect sense...

It goes back to my post earlier about the fact that many in the Feminist movement have a real problem accepting men who transition to female. It's another time the Religious Right is finding itself allied with Feminism, similar to the common ground in regards to pornography.

It goes to the point that lots of  women don’t believe men can turn into women. Which is a completely reasonable point of view, with it being true. The religious right trope is brought out to delegitimise their views and in the U.K. at least is a load of old bollocks.

I mean you believe that Pippa Bunce can flip between being a man and woman at will.  Which is absolutely mad.

Remarkable -

'Melissa Wilson, whose name was given in court listings as "Paul Wilson, also known as Melissa Wilson"'.

The journalists using “she / her” pronouns in these sort of instances really aren’t covering themselves in glory. I’m not advocating for a sort of gloating, sneering “he”, but it wouldn’t be hard to be entirely non-specific.

Can't you get done if you don't toe the line? Sure I read about someone getting into trouble for "dead naming" or something.

I’m Canada there’s a law about it. Not here. I mean, dead naming some legit trans person is a bit cunt, but a peado with a beard who is trying it on? Fuck them.

We are under pressure in work to do this - state our pronouns. I am refusing up until now, there are a few of us. At the moment it is more social pressure - just emails/comments on how 'positive' it would be.

I think Suzanne Moore who was fired from the Guardian explained it well - when you think of the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, etc. all these female specific norms that actually effect how they live their lives - to simply argue that that doesn't matter and it is irrelevant is wrong. By all means - if you want to live as a women then do so, but the discussion is so toxic.

When you get Katlyn Jenner - who was a male athlete, competing at the Olympics before she transitioned - stating that she doesn't feel that trans athletes should compete in women's sport being criticised by the walking wikipedia Jameela Jamil as being transphobic, without any hint of irony - then something is wrong.

Naming the websites that were used to access kiddie porn in an Echo article isn’t the cleverest thing to do, is it? Although I’m sure there’ll be a few regular posters on the FF that will appreciate it.
