Benteke

He did some reasonable things tonight, but in some ways he's even harder to watch than Baloteli. Balotelli would stand still at the edge of the box and you could see he was a lazy fucker. Benteke actually gets into the area, but then runs twice as fast to get out of it before the ball's played into the six yard box.

Why does he think every pull back will be played to the edge of the area?

Well, it's taken a while, but I've finally decided to give up the fruitless search for positives and to stop giving this git so much benefit of the doubt. He is gash.

Tonight he strolled around in a game that his teammates dominated against frankly poor League Two opponents and (apart from a couple of moments in the last 10 minutes ) never looked dangerous and never caused them any problems. He was constantly in the wrong position and the only headers he won were two when we were defending.

Exeter are playing Accrington Stanley on Saturday and I'd be surprised if they didn't have more trouble with whoever leads the line for Stanley.

Edit : Still an improvement on Balotelli, mind.

He actually is moving into space, away from the 3 defenders who are in the 6 yard box.

And guess what, he scored 50 goals for Villa in 100 games doing this. He's also won us 10 points this season with his finishing, including our last two match winners. Those other recent misfits - Heskey, Crouch, Keane, Carroll, Balotelli etc never had this effect.

Shame that most Liverpool fans, including on here, are too easily influenced by the pundit bandwagon to appreciate him.

Klopp needs goals in the team and errrr, probably needs to start playing Benteke as his lightweight number 10s and grafting midfielders aren't going to get them.

And BTW, what a first class attitude - smiling through it, never sulks, a team man - the anti Collymore.

Fuck you all, Benteke is class and he's ours!

He's thick. Has to be. Why else would a centre forward run out of the box when his team is attacking?

that was just incredible watching the replay of that moment. He's on the six yard box free and the ball is about to get crossed in and he turns and jogs outside the penalty box!

It's like he assumed we lost the ball. I couldn't believe it when I saw the replay

Unwarranted criticism for me lads. He was clearly trying to chivvy everyone back to the centre circle to speed up the restart before we even scored. Uber-professional.

I far from agree with all you're saying but fair play for voicing an opinion and backing our player.

How about focussing on the 3rd goal- picking the ball up in our half, going round two players, committing four defenders before a perfectly weighted pass to Tex. or does that not fit into the narrative here?

That was his one moment of good football. Against fourth division cannon fodder.

For 89 minutes and 50 seconds he was a liability.
