It's almost like he had little space in which to work! You know, the sort of thing our team comes up against on a near-weekly basis - teams sitting deep, containing and looking to hit on the counter. The sort of thing the likes of Aston Villa very very rarely come up against, so he looks like he has a bit more time and space because he DOES have a bit more time and space!

He was being man-marked by Ogbonna (an Italian man-marking? Never!) while Reid and Tomkins doubled up on him when they could - made easier because Coutinho and Firmino were playing deeper and not making runs beyond so West Ham's deep-lying midfield could take care of them instead.

If the players around him are off their game and/or being shackled then he will struggle to make much of an impact simply because teams sit deeper and more compact against us and the top sides than they would against the majority of the division.

I don't recall him getting one sharp fast paced ball for him to attack all game. It was either floating down from orbit with his back to goal or dinked in gently after 20 passes around the box with all 11 behind the ball and 3 on him, Messi would struggle in this setup.

Remember Torres playing off Gerrard that whats he needs.

That is because we have the slowest build up play in the league.

We never stretch teams.

This rot started last season when we decided we weren't going to go at teams anymore and arse around with it with one man up top constantly isolated. A lot of people put this down to Balotelli being shite, which he was, but we've supposedly got an upgrade and we are making him look equally ineffective.

Yeah - it was proven not to work last season and we have come out in this one adopting same tactics and unsurprisingly we can't score goals.

You can tell a quality striker when you see one. You dont need many games to decide whether they're quality or not. Effort and running around a lot are important but not as much as touch, craft, vision and a fucking eye for goal.

Benteke might run around a lot. He might give 110% but he doesnt have an eye for goal in my opinion. Yet we've paid £32m for a slightly more mobile version of Carroll.

Its fucking lunacy and Ive had enough of this shite. If we're going to buy benteke, at least have a plan to play to his strengths and build the team around him. What fucking loon buys such a player and expects he's suddenly going to become a prolific striker in a team that doesnt cross the fucking ball to well?

Oh, wait.

Its the constant nonsense of this buying a player from a shite team and think he's going to kick on and become the next messi (one could wish!) just because he now plays for Liverpool.

The issue with Benteke is not his ability, it's the manager's ability to set up the team to get the best out of him.

Mourinho could win the title win him playing upfront. He'd sign two out and out wingers, play three holding midfielders in every game, and turn Benteke into a horrible cunt.

Has one bad game (along with the rest of the team) and all the naysayers are out calling him shite.

This place is toxic at times.

I dont think he has had a bad game. the lad's trying but he's simply not a prolific striker.

Who has just posted he has a strike record of 1 in 2 in this league? Seriously, is that stat provable?

I suppose if you go on the net and look up how many Premier League appearances he's made as well as how many goals he has scored, you might, just might, get an inkling of his goal ratio in this country.
