    Jurgen Norbert Klopp

In a nutshell, this is the biggest issue. 6 games without a win at home and with the exception of City each team we’ve played have employed similar low block tactics and have kept us out easily. We’re all watching exactly the same thing every week yet we turn up the week after and still do the same things that have been failing.

    Counter Press vs Control Possession

I don’t know enough or watch enough footy other than us to suggest what tactical tweaks we need, but my very basic view is that about 12 months back we started encountering a hell of a lot of teams that are willing to let us have the ball 65% of the time and stay back and defend deep, and by and large it’s worked. Until recently it hadn’t resulted in many losses, but they are now starting to creep in we still look pretty clueless at breaking teams down. i can’t underplay the effect of the injuries as they would have crippled anyone else in this league, but that applies to this season. The warning signs against this style of play were there before this season and we seem to have less answers to it than ever.

    Villa (A) - FA Cup - 8/1/2021 - 19:45

I’m inclined to agree, except not Hendo in the back 4, get him in midfield. Williams or Phillips aren’t particularly good options but we dont really have any choice unless we try moving Gini back there like we did at Brighton a couple of seasons ago id also hope that the first team might be even more up for it given our last visit...

    Other football - 2020/21

We’ve let some seriously average teams off the hook this last few weeks

    Other football - 2020/21

Looks like we’re going to have to slap them down to size in a couple of weeks.

    Too nice?

This is a huge gripe of mine at the moment. We’re not struggling because of refs but we’re constantly on the wrong end of shitty little ‘fouls’ when we regularly see Mane being manhandled and getting nothing. I know it drives Jurgen mad as he’s always hopping up and down on the touchline when it happens, he got booked for it in the West Brom game.

    Mohamed Salah

I’m inclined to agree with you but I’ve just had a quick scoot at our chance conversion rate and it appears that we’re second only to Leicester this year, and finished second last year on the same metric. I genuinely dont know what this means as like i said, I agree with you that we seem to miss a lot of chances (id say Mané and to a lesser extent Bobby are guilty of this) or fluff them due to poor decision making (Salah is a definite candidate due to his desire to predominantly use his left foot) the one thing I’d love to see us do sometimes is swap Mo and Mané and see if that has an effect, simply just to see if being on their natural side can bring the odd dividend, and unlock games likes last night where we had a ridiculous amount of the ball but weren’t doing anything except swinging in hopeful crosses to players that generally weren’t there. Mo shooting across a keeper from the left would have maybe been more effective than him cutting inside and having 3 players in front of him blocking.
  9. Yeah, there’s a lot to be said about this. We won loads of games by just doing enough last year and wearing down the opposition til they cracked. The main difference today I felt was that our intent in the second half in particular was just putting crosses into a packed area. The first half was similar in that we had a lot of the ball out wide but kept overhitting crosses to players that weren’t there - it looks dangerous to a certain extent but is fucking useless when you haven’t got anybody meeting them. It just felt like we were rolling a dice rather than having a specific idea of what to do.
  10. I think the problem is that the player we brought in to unlock against these bus parking fucking teams hasn’t been available since the derby. He shouldn’t be the only option we have, but it is a factor.

    Away form

This is my take too, we’ve been done out of 3 points twice in virtually the last seconds of both games. Given the injuries and the knock on effects they’ve had then all things considered we’re in decent shape but I can’t help thinking we really cant afford anyone else to drop for any amount of time now.

    Thiago Alcantara

That fucking Everton game is turning out to be the shitty gift that keeps giving. Unbelievable the number of knock on effects those 2 injuries have had on us
  13. Who was that dickhead arguing with Jurgen?
  14. Lost count of the number of cheap free kicks they’ve bought by chucking themselves to the floor at the merest touch
  15. Same here, always felt a little premature that he was built up so much on the back of a couple of admittedly good initial games.
  16. Just pretty much said the same on the MF. He’s given us fuck all.

    Liverpool 3 Leicester City 0 (Nov 22 2020)

Totally agree with you on Gini, Dave. Pay him what he wants, he’s more than earned it.
  18. We’ve made a crap team look a hell of a lot better than they actually are tonight. We’ve literally had one decent passage of play and made it count, thankfully.
  19. I think the third goal was the game changer, we were well in it and i thought we were going to win, but criminally bad afterwards. Wasnt Barkely offside from the shot that led to the corner where they scored it too?
  20. The writing was on the wall from Gomez straight from the kick off. He managed to give them the ball back straight away from that bizarre kick off ritual we do every game except it was even worse than usual, and didn’t even get anywhere near Robbo or the touchline.

    Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

I think Madrid are doing the same with the left back they've sold to Spurs, might be something that gains more and more traction for some highly rated young players at big clubs instead of loans.

    What's gone wrong defensively?

One of my favourite all time players, Sami. The best 2.6million the club ever spent.

    Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

The club has spent the last couple of years bigging him up massively on it's own social media channels so it would be a surprise to see him sold without making any meaningful performances for us, even with a buyback fee unless it's some cackhanded way of getting cash in to make the books look better now, then buying him back on the cheap within 2 years if he lives up to previous expectations. My personal view is that I'm not sure why he wouldn't be best served training with our squad and getting proper time on the pitch here but there you go. I think it's in Klopp's philosophy to not just dole out first team appearances for the sake of it but I don't necessarily agree with it if you're going to go to the trouble of putting them on the bench in the first place, for instance I thought Elliott should have seen some decent time on the pitch bearing in mind we had 5 subs to play with after the restart. If he's going to stick to that and doesn't see Brewster as good enough to even warrant a place above Origi on the bench then I suppose a parting is inevitable, and I would guess in that scenario probably justified as I think we're all largely in agreement that a better option than Origi is a priority.
  24. Kissing the charity shield, wtf?!
  25. Agree with this but I think it’s fair to say that most teams have set up like this against us since February. You could have set your watch by Arsenal setting up like this so I was surprised to see a workmanlike starting midfield with no Keita.
