Fair comment.

With good fortune on our side, we can tilt at the top four and title, but normally we will be FFP victims, not beneficiaries.

Our money needs to be in top scouting and a manager with a global reach, not annual punts on Carlos Kickaball.

How does a manager prove global reach?

Your assumption seems to be that a young manager from England will stick primarily to English players and players they know while young managers from elsewhere will search every corner of the world for players.

I've seen Frank De Boer's name mentioned in this context yet you look at his transfer record and it's overwhelmingly in favour of the Dutch league with the odd Scandinavian player thrown on for good measure.

The Dutch league has fuck all money in it so Ajax's best bet is their Academy and the Dutch/Belgian/Scandinavian market. They're hardly going to attract players from the top 5 leagues.

If we've got £100m+ to spend in a summer why waste half of it on mid-table Premier League players? The Premier League is a really shit market to buy from, unless you're Barcelona or Real Madrid and buy the best player in it (Suarez), or you're buying a player clubs want to sell and get a good deal (Sturridge).
