I rate Sturridge, just not as highly as some others. Depends on a lot of factors, age, cost ability to fit into the team. he doesn't look happy at Chelsea so might be open to a move but would Chelsea let him go?

What alternatives are there? Draxler of Schalke? Llorente? Rhodes?

To be honest, I think Carroll could come good for us a he offers something completely differant. Think we'll end up with Dempsey though.

Chelsea want 25m according to ESPN. he he he he he... typical.

Tell me you did not see that coming? It's so predictable, as soon as clubs see us desperate the last week of the transfer window, the value increases about 10-15m.

I like Sturridge but if it's to go that far, let's go further in the 35-40m box and try for Higuain, Llorente, Falcao, or alternatively give Andy Carroll a real chance(I don't mean 10min as a sub).

There's a higher principle involved in the Andy Carroll situation, and that is NOT to bend over for Newcastle (or anyone) on the price. May sound a bit like cutting off our nose to spite our face, but surely we've got to make a stand at some point; and thereby re-assert some credibility?

I'm not sure what principle you're referring to? We're in this position purely because of our own stupidity. Newcastle didn't bend anyone over, they suggested a figure assuming we weren't being serious and we bit their hand off.

We can only expect around the market value for any player. Around £13 million is probably an accurate figure for him.

I'm all for keeping him if he's in our managers plans, if he isn't his value will plummet after a season on the bench.
