Really like the new approach from Stokes and England generally but that declaration on the first day was unnecessary another 50 runs at least  were up for grabs and that's ultimately cost us the win .

I think he will learn from this and hope we can still lift the ashes .

One way of looking at that declaration, given how deep we got into the match, is that it prevented England from getting a draw.

 

That's not the way they play nowadays, and they are to be applauded for it.

 

That was a great game, regardless of the "benign" nature of the pitch.

There was some great batting and bowling from both sides.

 

As for Bairstow, I think he's worth his place as a bat in this style of England set up.

So it's not his fucking fault that England make him keep as well.

 

Very, very good game of cricket.

Given the encroachment of utter shite like The Hundred and Premier Leagues, England are leading the way - perhaps the only way given the Insta-demands of humankind nowadays - in how Test Cricket can survive.
