*Shakes head* Everton again.

Watford seem to be digging their heels in over Silva though.

I think there's only one (at a push, two) way(s) he goes to Everton. If Watford rebuff Everton's offers, as it appears they will, Silva has no option but to resign if he really wants to go to manage at the pit. Then you're into a whole messy world of tapping up allegations, contractual clauses on gardening leave etc and Silva's possible contactual obligations to not manage another club within a certain time period of resigning.

The only other way is a massive cash offer from Everton. They're going for Silva as there are no other realistic options available right now. That also applies to Watford. They'll be reluctant to let go of a manager who has got them off to a good start to the season when they'd too have to look for a replacement in a rather small pool of good, available managers. Plus, the Pozzo lads aren't skint. They won't bend if the Merseyside Gajillionaires flash their cash.

For me, it reeks of Unsworth until the end of the season.

Another first. Put that on the list.

Everton striker Oumar Niasse has become the first Premier League player to be charged by the Football Association for "successful deception of a match official".

The Senegal international won a controversial penalty, after minimal contact from Scott Dann, in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace, with Leighton Baines scoring the penalty.

Niasse went on to score the equaliser at Selhurst Park.

He has until 18:00 GMT to respond.

New laws were introduced in May allowing players to be charged after a game for simulation. Carlisle forward Shaun Miller was the first to be banned for two games in October.
