She's lovely. I'd like to romance her to a slightly less expensive standard than she's used to.

Sheenie, a Burger from the van might work with Woo, but this lass is proper refined, like real proper, sits down to eat and uses a Knife and Fork and that. I can't see a Dogburger covered in fried Onions working its magic on her.

Dirty's usual 'big spender' seduction package including the finest of boxed wines might need to be upgraded to get that bit of fanny.

While Liverpool's bid for Ajax striker Luis Suarez seemingly moved closer to becoming a reality on Tuesday, such was not the case for the pursuits of Anderlecht phenom Romelu Lukaku and Bayern Munich stalwart Mark Van Bommel, as both are set to sign elsewhere.

Lukaku, the 17-year-old striker heralded as "the new Didier Drogba," was linked to Liverpool and claimed that he wanted to sign with a big Premier League side, but that club now appears to be Manchester City.

According to Belgian source Sport/Foot, Lukaku is set to move to Eastlands for £18 million in July. Anderlecht, though, is denying the story, saying "Romelu stays with Anderlecht for now. City? There is nothing on that yet."

Lukaku was the leading scorer in Belgium last season, scoring 15 goals in 25 games.

On Tuesday, Van Bommel's agent, Mino Raiola said "I know about Liverpool's interest, but other offers are currently more interesting," and that appears to be the case. The 33-year-old captain of the Dutch national team will instead sign an 18-month deal with Wolfsburg, according to Daily Mail.

In truth, neither player was of dire need for Liverpool, as Lukaku is rather pricy for a player who would seem unlikely to make an immediate impact on the side, and the club is instead focused on Suarez as an incoming striker. Likewise, Van Bommel may have provided Liverpool with stability in central midfield, but that position -- other than goalkeeper -- is the lowest priority in the transfer market for the club.

Not just wine, I'm talking wine, dine, and 69.

True enough, I can see it falling just short and being dashed on the rocks of hope, anticipation and failure.

Only just short though. I'm a sultry romantic motherfucker. Like Enrique Iglesias but not gay or hispanic.

BBC Sport - Football - Liverpool to give Dalglish money to spend on players

By Dan Roan

BBC sports news correspondent

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner insists Kenny Dalglish will be given funds to strengthen the squad at Anfield.

Dalglish has taken charge for the rest of the season at Anfield following the sacking of Roy Hodgson this month.

"I would we devastated if we didn't see some improvement," Werner told BBC Sport. "We've identified some targets and hope we will be successful.

"I expect progress, we've resources to improve, we're not driven by spending, but our team needs to get younger."

The appointment of Anfield legend Dalglish, who made 355 appearances for the club and managed the team from 1985-1991, was hugely popular with the Liverpool fans, who had become disillusioned with Hodgson.

Dalglish began his new spell with two defeats and a draw but Werner said: "We feel very confident we're making progress. There's not an overnight success, our squad has been inconsistent and we expect to improve it short term.

Discuss Liverpool issues

"Kenny's got many of the qualities we've looked for in a manager, he has the confidence of the players and we'll start to see better results."

Hodgson, who previously managed Blackburn and Fulham in the Premier League, was dismissed after less than six months at the Liverpool helm having won only seven of 20 league matches.

Werner said: "He may not have been the right man for Liverpool at this time.

"We felt we needed to change. We handled it with dignity, I think quite highly of him and we all take some responsibility for what has been an inconsistent season."

Attendances at Anfield dropped significantly towards the end of Hodgson's reign and Werner added: "We were aware of the fans point of view - in a perfect world we wouldn't have had to make the change but we're in a results business."

Werner not ruling Kenny out | Sky Sports | Liverpool News | Football | Premier League

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has hinted that caretaker boss Kenny Dalglish could be in line for the manager's job past the end of the season should he succeed.

Werner, who is part of the FSG consortium that took over the Reds in October with John W. Henry, has overseen a difficult period with the club so far, with results on the field and performances by some players poor to say the least.

The group have already made one big change, removing Roy Hodgson from his post after just six months in charge to replace him with the iconic Dalglish at the beginning of January.

Despite the Scot being considered merely a short-term solution to the Reds' stuttering season at Anfield, the American insisted that Dalglish's work so far had not gone unnoticed.

"You have to be thinking for the long-term. We're tough and we're hopefully looking out, not just for the club in the short-term but for the long-term," he told Sky Sports News.

"You don't like to sack anybody but I think it was time to move forward in a different direction.

"He (Dalglish) is, as everybody knows, an iconic figure in out club's history. He's got many of the qualities that we've admired.

Competent

"He's competent; he certainly understands the club's philosophy, he's excellent at man-management. And we've been very pleased with the progress.

"It's obviously quick and he's only been on the job for a short term, but he's quite aware of the challenge. The players are quite supportive of Kenny and I've been very impressed with him.

"I don't like to play hunches, but he certainly is a candidate and he understood that it was a short-term position; but he's certainly done everything not just to impress us, but our fans and players."

With the January transfer window deadline fast-approaching, the group have yet to make a foray into the market, although Dalglish has met with the owners and recruitment specialist Damien Comolli regarding player signings.

Ajax striker Luis Suarez and Aston Villa trio Stewart Downing, Ashley Young and Stephen Warnock have all been linked with a move to Merseyside, however no move is thought to have been made yet.

Werner claimed that they were looking to invest in players, but only if the move was the right one for the club.

Targets

"We're going to be driven by what's in the interest of the team long-term, we want to improve not just this week but next year. And we feel we've got some targets that hopefully we'll be able to announce," he added.

"Damien is on the phone as we talk and we hope we can have a match with someone that we desire and hopefully will come to Anfield.

"We're going to be driven by value, and we certainly have the resources to do something. But we want to do something that's going to improve the club long-term."

Werner also paid tribute to the club's supporters, acknowledging the expectations put upon them, as well as thanking Hodgson for his time despite his sacking.

"It's a privilege to work here, the ethos of the club is something that is so inspirational. I feel we're part of a cause and we have a great fanbase and I'm just privileged to be here," Werner continued.

"We know we have a challenge ahead of us, obviously the club is not performing to the level that any of the supporters want. So we have a task ahead of us, but we're very optimistic.

"Roy is a good man and a good manager. There are times in sport when you say 'this is not the right fit. Obviously nobody could have been happy with our performance and we all take a certain responsibility for that. The players, the manager and the executives.

"We expected that our club's fortunes would improve and at some point I think you have to say it's important to stabilise the situation, turn the page and move forward in a different direction.

"I wish Roy the best; I have great respect for him. And I think we handled the situation with a certain amount of dignity."

until snoogy doogy holds up a scarf with Kenny, he's still the mythical snoogy doogy. Werner gives a good interview, as does Henry, and i honestly do believe them, but i'm a bit reluctant right now to give them the compelte benefit of the doubt.

remember that we bought torres in hicks' first year here.
