I'm still with him. I wish we'd been able to buy another player or two in the close season. I wish we'd managed to get Barry. I wish we'd been able to get Silva. Two players he's wanted over the last year or two. However, I'm still with him.

 

The question that still remains whenever this raises its head is who would replace him. I mean, that is a massive part of the equation.

I'm resigned to the fact that Benitez has a 5 year contract, he could shag the wives of many men on here, shit on their beds and people would still want him as manager.

 

Whether I want him sacked or whether anyone wants him sacked really isn't an issue, nor would it be an issue in a year from now because it's never his fault with the majority of our fans, it's either the Yanks or Parry or the net spend of the investment in Jaffa Cakes.

 

My stance hasn't changed, anything other than a trophy and a title challenge this season would see my support falter somewhat, and no I don't want him sacked I believe he can achieve, whether he will or not is a different question.

I am. However sometimes I wonder if I am because he is definitely still the right man for the job, or that there simply is no other manager in the same bracket out there, who wouldn't touch the job as it's somewhat of a poisoned chalice with fucking Randalph and Mortimer Duke in charge of things. I must admit it isn't a thought I get regularly, only every now and then.

 

Of course, my slight negativity could be down to the result Sunday leaving us all with two weeks to stew on it.
