Not sure if this is best place for this but I am on the second last ep of Vietnam:Lost Films and it is absolutely top class. Narrated by Dexter and has loads of actors reading soldiers testimonials. The footage is pretty brutal and well restored.

Not a big fan of these cop buddy movies, but this was pretty decent.

 

The only thing which could have made it better is if TJ Hooker was in it.

The Woodsman - 8/10. Kevin Bacon's so good at playing a paedo he's in danger of becoming typecast.

 

 

Brilliant film. Bacon's directorial debut too iirc.

State of Grace - 7/10. Would have been higher but for Gary Oldman's preposterous overacting.

Kids - Thought it was quite rubbish tbh. I didn't find it "shocking" or "controversial" or anything like that. All I remember thinking the entire film was "Not a single character in this film is likeable" The film conjures up no feelings other than "What a sack of cunts these lot are"

I think that's kind of the point of the film.

 

All the kids are disaffected 'yoof' going nowhere and not caring, because, let's face it, it's a bit shit when you realise you're not immortal and the world is a cruel dark and disgusting place, save a few speckles of joy interwind with the drudgery that is the lot of all ordinary folk, and that the world owes you fuck all.

 

I quite like it, but the follow up 'Bully' is fucking abysmal.

A forgotten generation waltzes aimlessly towards the grave, only for that journey to be hastened by a massive dose of the hiv, bleak and challenging for a generation with only, drugs, booze, casual sex, anti-heroes and despondency to look forward to, definitely not a comedy.

 

It's not a classic, maybe a time and place type film, but it really appealed to me and my friends at the time who were living very similar lives, sans the bad shithouse AIDS obvs.

Seven Psychopaths- nothing like i was expecting in the best possible way. Very funny, original and with stand out performances from Walken and Sam Rockwell. I loved every insane minute of it- 9/10.

In a good way. The trailer makes it look like a goofy comedy about dognapping, there's far more to it than that. In Bruges is probably my favourite film of the last ten years, so maybe i'm biased.

In Bruges is a decent film.
