I can't get the least bit excited about transfers. Ploughing through the mountain of rumours, lies , fake news and utter bullshit churned out by the press and social media is not worth the effort. Sign some decent players , we need a couple more, and tell me when it's done.

We are not signing a new centre-back unless one of our current ones leave. We all in all likeliness will have to replace all of Moreno, Clyne and Mignolet this summer (unless we decide to promote Lewis, Camacho and Grabaha/Kelleher).

But, in anticipation of where this discussion might be heading, may I already just say: 100m on Koulibaly > 50m on Maguire.

We all know where this is going.

Leicester by any chance.

Lol, no.. he’d be too expensive now. I reckon if we need someone for a month or two until Gomez returns, we want someone experienced and wouldn’t mind being rotated. Maybe someone like Nathan Ake.

We have some pretty major spending to do in summer.

As you say Mig, Moreno, Clyne...and i would suggest possibly Milner and Lallana - plus Sturridge, Origi and Solanke

OK some of those will be youth stepping up but surely we are looking at 4/5 needed in too.

Back-up keeper, left back and back-up/ starting right back.

Starting attacking mid, back-up striker/winger.

In my opinion.

Quite a lot really.

Surprised with such a shopping list we haven't moved for one in this window - just to offer cover/get bedded i - although of course if the right player isn't available...

Someone like Asensio would be a much better fit for us.

He's had a bizarre season. At an age when he should be confirming that he's a future world class player, he's been absolutely terrible and plays less. I doubt Madrid will give up on him, but it's an interesting situation. That said, I agree that he'd be a better fit than Isco.

Controversial former Leeds owner Massimo Cellino says Brescia have been contacted by Liverpool over a move for midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Tonali, who has been labelled ‘the next Andrea Pirlo’, has been attracting plenty of interest this season and was recently called into Roberto Mancini’s senior Italian squad.

It was recently reported that Chelsea and Manchester City are likely to be the only two clubs willing to meet the new €40million asking price for Tonali.

The two Premier League clubs, along with Inter Milan and Juventus, have been strongly linked with the midfielder, with Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that both the Blues and Inter watched the player during a 2-1 defeat to Venezia in Serie B on December.

Roma and Napoli are also thought to have shown an interest in Tonali who has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in Italian football.

Now though in an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Brescia president Cellino says “Liverpool have called me” in reference to the midfielder.

“Yes, Roma have asked me about Tonali. I’ve talked about him to [Roma director Mauro] Baldissoni several times, but I want to keep the lad as long as possible. Is he ready? I don’t know, he’s 18. But Liverpool also contacted me a little while ago,” said Cellino.
