Expected goals created over assists

Something that has occurred to me that the metric of assists is so hugely flawed in terms of rating a footballers productivity, not all assists are created equal. A full back who plays a 10 yard pass to a player who blams one in from 30 yards is credited with the same as the player who beats 2 men and puts the ball on a plate for a striker to tap home. However, if a player lays one on a plate for a teammate and he somehow misses it there is nothing to show for it statistically, that is simply wrong.

I'm aware of the "chances created" stat but that's also hugely flawed I remember Moreno was one of our highest chance creators in 15-16 as he regularly played a pass to Coutinho who'd take a blast from anywhere. So my suggestion is that the most significant statistic for rating a players' creativity is the number of expected goals chances he creates.

Expected assists is already a thing...

As is expected goal chain, which assigns part of the xG  to all the players involved in the build-up of a shot.

As is non-stop expected which assigns an expected goal value to every action a player makes.

These stats are hard to come by though...
