VAR Thoughts? - FF - Football Forum - The Liverpool Way Jump to content

Welcome to the new and improved TLW!

Some of you may experience issues logging in and will get an 'incorrect password' error. Don't worry, you haven't typed it in wrong and your password hasn't been changed. You will need to reset it though in order to log in. Click the reset password link and you will receive an email with your new temporary password. Once logged in, you need to choose a new password (or restore to your old one) otherwise you will be locked out again.

If you have an out of date email address linked to your account, then you won't receive the new password. If that's the case then you'll need to email me (dave @liverpoolway.co.uk) or send me a tweet @theliverpoolway and I'll update your password manually.

Any other problems or questions just let me know.

Thanks

Dave

VAR Thoughts?

Personally i do not like it.

Nothing against the idea but i think its going to fuck up the flow of the game.

They just used it there, took 39 seconds and confirmed that the decision was right.

No issue with it so far. It’s about time it was introduced to prevent howlers.

Remember Suarez’s last minute winner at Goodison? With VAR that’s a goal, imagine what we’d all have felt about it then?

Referees are not fit for purpose.

VAR is a necesity.

I don't give a fuck how long it takes, as long as the decision is right.

Completley agree with this.

No need for Poll

One he's a cunt of a ref

Two he's a cunt of a ref

Of course it should be used.  Humans will make errors and the notion that these errors add excitement is totally false.

Its far too slow in its use. The fact the var official cannot overrule the ref. Should just be a ref watching the tape and getting in the ear puece as need be

It’s only been used once in this game and it took 39 seconds!

Seen him on the intercom a few times.

Not taking ages but still holding play up.

The fact its only being used in certain instances is a issue too and for obvious wrong decisions.

That took a bit too long for my liking but correct decision.

It’ll get things wrong at times but that’s a decent example of it being used there.

What else would you want it used for?

I think the crucial thing with VAR will be when meaningful stats are out to show how often decisions are reversed, If its a small number then its probably not worth slowing down the game

I like it used for anything off the ball

The Holgate thing, pulling in the box on corners, elbows off the ball.

What do you decide is or isnt important

A corner/goalkick late on could be important.
