Some life these players have. Day to day just turn in to your luxury leisure centre and get healthy, pampered then paid over 100 grand a week.  God bless the little cunts.

Come on sometimes you actually have to play, unless you are Thiago that is

I watched the Inside Anfield thing.  I really felt for Slot.  He's personable, knowledgeable, and no doubt, he's a skilled manager.  It's just that ... well, you know.

It really is the impossible job.

It's not.

Klopp wasn't exactly winning everything in sight the last two or three seasons. In fact, one of those seasons and the end of his last one were pretty fucking awful & he clearly wanted to go.

I don't really go in for the unadulterated Klopp worship, aye - he done a fucking good job but he's a long way behind Shankly, Paisley & Dalglish for me. The having a go at the support stuff kinda tarnishes his stint as well.

If Slot keeps the ship steady, we look good in Europe and don't fall out of the top four in his first season, he'll be doing ok.

I think Klopp is up there with them. Shankly is ahead because it all stems from him and Paisley won 6 leagues an 3 European cups. Klopp took us from mediocrity to defeats actually being very rare. We had bad seasons and some of our greatest ever. Plus he's easily one of the most charismatic people around. I dont think it makes Slots job harder because if he is a good manager the only thing that matters will be results. I'm a grown man I don't need somebody to gush over, just make the team compete so it's more of an enjoyable experience and if we can do it playing nice football then brilliant. Truth is none of our previous greats have ever had to compete against a country and one that's consistently broke rules others have followed fairly, Klopp had the hardest job on that front and so will Slot. The very best can fall second to Abu Dhabi it's not a failure on Slot to do the same.

Anybody heard anything about Sevilla tickets? Supposed to go on sale a week ago, but it’s been showing as ‘Sale suspended’ since then.

I reckon they'll go back up once the members sale is done.

From 1970 to 1981, Everton, Arsenal, Derby (twice), Leeds, Notts Forest and Aston Villa won the League in addition to us.

That era had its difficulties - different from the current Abu Dhabi one.

There were clearly more teams capable of winning the League.

It was no easier back then, in its own way.

Klopp was great.  And he's gone.

I had my time to gush as a kid in the 70s/80s.  And nothing will ever be as good.

More teams where capable because there was more of a level playing field. Now 90 plus points can still see you second. Klopp lost in the league once in an entire season, he got 97 points and the questions about Klopp from the media was did Klopp win enough in his time here. I think a level playing field in terms of rules just being followed by the spirit they where intended would of seen Klopp with at least 2 more titles, shit the PGMOL just doing its job properly could of seen that happen.

They do like to complicate things, don’t they….. ‘

Agree and disagree with elements of recent posts.

Klopp's right up there for me, but there’s certainly potential for improvement in terms of the football and the mentality of the players. Just look at the last weeks of the season.

Whether Slot’s the man to do it remains to be seen, but it’s not exactly Benitez going to Inter or even Guardiola going to Bayern in terms of what’s gone just before.

All we won in the last two seasons was a single league cup.

Also think that Klopp was dead right to have a go at the fans if he was wasn’t happy with the atmosphere. He’d earned that right by winning a title and a European Cup.

Telling The Kop what to sing (or not to sing) & cheerleading the Main Stand because he'd won the league?

Nah, I'm not having that.

He was suggesting that they sing about the players rather than him, if I remember correctly. Don’t see much wrong with that.

Dunno what you mean by the main stand stuff.

I don't think a bloke being paid tens of thousands per week to manage the team should be dictating to paying supporters what they should & shouldn't be singing. Maybe just me.

He was constantly trying to gee people in the Main Stand up. Again, I don't like to see that from managers or players.

Don't get me wrong, I thought Klopp was amazing and will always remember him winning the first title in 30yrs above all else but as for making a God of him or thinking Slot has an 'impossible' task following him, count me out.

I've watched both preseason videos now, and I don't know whether it's the editing or not, but he certainly seems more "hands on" than klopp.

I'll be honest, I think we're going to be much better this coming season. It might be blunt faith, but I really do think this guy is the next "super manager" in world football
