I rate him as our best defender but he has played that daft weak ass pass a fair few times now. I wouldn't mind as much but he fizzes a great ball up the pitch but those square passes are awful.

He's been very good recently but for me he's ultimately too injury and error prone to be considered a successful signing.   And those hospital balls just aren't acceptable, unfortunately.

Hes done well recently, up until tonight his defending has been fairly good without being spectacular. 

 

But his passing is fucking woeful. If he can just sort that shit out we'll be fine as hes the best option we've got in there beside Skrtel

I don't know how this issue keeps getting confused over and over.  His passing, the strength and accuracy of it, is generally very good but his passing, in the sense of his choice of pass, is sometimes very bad

His passing is very good technically. Sometimes though, he chooses to make the wrong pass. And that will always be a problem. Defensively, he is good.

People can argue about whether its technique or decision making whatever but at the end of the day he makes bad passes. 

 

And to be clear I'm coming from the position that I really rate him. Hes not the shite player a lot make him out to be.
