I've been giving this some thought after I started to reread the books. 

 

Is Jon Snow really Ned Stark's bastard? Maybe we will learn in one of the final books that Ned took him in to protect him for another reason, maybe he's a son of Robert Baratheon or a younger brother. 

 

It is called "A song of ice and fire." Ice=Jon Snow, fire= Daenerys Targaryen. 

 

Maybe they will meet and join forces to overcome the White Walkers. Fall in love and sit on the throne as King and Queen, or maybe one will die and the other will claim the throne.

I'm not sure how coherent Martin's plans are. Seeing him interviewed on the DVD extras make you think maybe he's making it up as he goes along because he's been completely unawares by its popularity and people are demanding the kind of exposition that nobody who's not an imprisoned Roy Cropper would be capable of devoting the time to.
