I've just been reading that it is unlikely that he will be fit for the Man City game. By the time he is likely to feature again, that will be another six-eight weeks out. There has been very little said about this injury other than there is swelling in the knee with some fluid. No player should take almost two months to recover from that. Not with sports science today. He apparently got the Hip/Thigh issue resolved once and for all in the Summer over in Boston but here we are with something new. I really don't think we can continue with having this hope that when Sturridge returns, we'll improve drastically. Of course we will, and we do, but it is a false hope an…

I have no idea how this game will pan out. Chelsea have to travel to Basel a few days after, however they really could do with some points against us for their top four challenge. Although, if you believe the talk, Benitez is only concerned with winning a trophy and couldn't care with top four as he knows he will not be there next season anyway. I'm not so sure - Mata, Ba, Hazard, Oscar and Ramires all started against Sunderland last week; it will also be interesting to see what team they play tonight. They do have plenty of players who could punish our style of play and it will be interesting to see how deep we end up. I hope we start fast and punish them early o…

Seeing as there are plenty of opinions surrounding him from fans at the moment, I'd thought I'd start a thread. Basically, there are two opinions. Firstly, he's a forward who has excelled on the right of a front three for a top team and scored goals. He's very talented and with the right direction he could become a top top player - which is where he was heading towards under Villa-Boas. Then Di Matteo came in and didn't fancy him at all. Second opinion - why didn't Di Matteo fancy him? There are questions over his attitude, and when there was talk of him signing a new deal with Chelsea, Sturridge believed his own hype and wanted something similar to his teamma…

So who are we going to buy then? I think it'll be another 1 in 1 out window like last year .... Sturridge Out - Werner In Origi Out - someone from the youth setup in (wilson or brewster or both). Ming out - youth goalie promoted. Moreno out - probably that young left back from bristol in. Milner out (if leeds get promoted) - Rabio maybe in?? Matip Out - Random CB in or youth promoted. £30-40m sales, £60-80m on purchases.

Overtime, he will prove to be EXACTLY what our defence needed. He's a leader, he's strong, he's fast, he's a beast in the air, and he's composed on the ball. For me, he'll keep the error prone Agger out of the team. Well played, Rodgers.

I didn't do anything in the last one so ill run this next one. Ill throw out a few options and see who wants what 1) France/Germamy/Holland 2) France/Belgium/Portugal 3) Holland/Germany 4) World Cup(includes all post war world cups,1 pick per nation) 5) Champions League(1 pick per club) 6)English First Division 1960-92(players cannot have played in premier league) 7) U23(No players born before 1/1/1990,squad of 15) Personally I'd leave the Champions league till last as it will be a rehash of the same players.

Deserves it's own thread now, otherwise the transfer thread is going to get completely sidetracked with this. Just what the actual fuck???? Liverpool Football Club would like to put on record our regret over recent media speculation regarding Southampton Football Club and player transfers between the two clubs. We apologise to the owner, board of directors and fans of Southampton for any misunderstanding regarding Virgil van Dijk. We respect Southampton's position and can confirm we have ended any interest in the player.

...who is it going to be? We going to spend big? We going to buy proven or potential? We going to buy top top class? It seems more and more likely that Darren Bent will become available in January. At 28, it'd hard to be get a price for him that would represent value - however if he goes and gets ten goals between January and June, and got another fifteen next season, anything from £8M-11M would be fine by me. Gary Hooper has been getting linked in a few sectors over the week. He probably won't be many's first choice as he plays in the SPL, but you can now point at Jelavic. He's only 24, and does seem to have that natural knack of scoring goals. The obvio…

Nearly time for a few outs and maybe an in. Tranmere will be asking about taking Stephen Darby, there is a clause in his deal that he can go in Jan permanently. Tranmere will seek to do this. Oh and we are looking at a winger. Make of that what you want.

Despite the defensive errors (Been happening regardless) we have been playing very well. Gerrard dropping has allowed Henderson more freedom to roam and Sterling has been on fire since Lucas got injured. Are we a better team without him?

Anyway may as well start this. Enrique is apparently gona miss this as his knee flared up after last week so there's obviously a problem there that is more serious than we thought. So guess it'll be Cissokho at LB as I'd rather have a LB than a CB play there, and given he's been at melwood for 10 days while internationals are on I'd say Rodgers will work with him. I'd go with same team as last week but leave out Agger as Lukaku must be rubbing his hands at the thought of toying with him again, I actually wouldn't be against bringing Allen in for Couthinio as I think this game could pass him by and we might need to just keep the ball for periods of the game and be patient …

Giving him his very own thread on th MF. Liverpool keeper Loris Karius reveals Jurgen Klopp persuaded him to miss Olympics for Reds The Germany U21 international was guaranteed a starting place in his country's Olympics team for the football tournament in Brazil Loris Karius has revealed Jurgen Klopp persuaded him to duck the Olympics so he can play in Liverpool's opening games of the new campaign. And that is the firmest proof yet that the German keeper has arrived at Anfield not to be number one Simon Mignolet's understudy, but his replacement. The Germany U21 international was guaranteed a starting place in his country's Olympics team for the football t…

As a huge critic of Lucas, is it time to give him the credit he deserves as of late? he's been very good this season, and today he was immense once again. Fair play to the lad, could turn out to be another Dirk Kuyt amongst the fans (some love him some hate him)

Depending on who you listen to, it's either 25m or 30m. We definitely made a bid for him but it's been rejected. I'd be buzzing if we pulled that off, even if he is over-priced. We're still talking to them, so maybe something may still happen.

Really, what's the point? He is a central midfielder who doesn't score or assist goals, can't protect the defense and never truly dominates a game. He has got no physical strength or ability in the air and no creativity or dribbling ability. I suppose he is decent at pressing and short passing but that shouldn't be nearly enough to play centre midfield for Liverpool. And for 15m pounds, I'd expect a hell of a lot more. In no way should he be the scapegoat for our current form, but I have seen enough supposedly far inferior players dominate our midfield to think that Allen is a luxury we can't afford.
