  1. The Oncologist just called. PSA down to zero. Apart from a blood test every six months that's it. You're all gonna have to put up with me for a bit longer yet! Anyway, thoughts to all and any of you going through this shit but trust me there is light at the end of the tunnel.

  2. what a fucking shame. met him quite a few times (nearly every time with alan kennedy) . the most memorable was one of the cup finals in cardiff (I think the league cup v man united) and him and alan kennedy were staying in our hotel. we ended up in a round with them on the piss till all hours. we used to drink in the sandon pre-match in those days and for a year or two after they would drop in occasionally to find us to have a pint on their way to anfield. he used to absolutely hate the scouser tommy song, because of the rush bit at the end .... he was in the everton team that day.

  4. Izzy goes swimming twice a week at Stockport. After the session the showers are really busy so we agreed she’d just come to me poolside, collect her bag and get changed when they’d finished. It’s chaotic so I’m waiting for about 5 mins then thought she’d probably in the changing rooms waiting for her bag. I have to go the long way back through reception to get where she’d be. Got there and no sign, went down to the showers, no sign. Thiught we may have crossed so went back poolside. No sign. By this point I’m fucking shitting myself. I can honestly say I’ve never been more scared in my life. I’m shouting her, parents are looking but no knowing what to do. I go to the office and a women goes through to the loos and finds her in the shower cubicle. I then go from furious to overjoyed to furious to overjoyed and can feel the adrenaline. Without a doubt the scariest 10 mins of my life.

  5. I was explaining this thread to me dad last week, who’s in the CD league when it comes to culinary masterpieces. He often sends me the weird combinations he has put together with pride at what he has managed to achieve. So here is todays effort. A sea bass and vegetable in a bag meal from Iceland, on toast, with scrambled egg!!!

  7. The GF can be a cold place if you don't know anything about politics. Or history. Or you can't cook and can't afford to buy a breakfast. Or you aren't interested in music or the arts. Or have a pet. Cold, cold place.

  11. Had an interview for a flight systems engineer role at work about 4 weeks ago. The interview went well and was a role I really want to throw myself into. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job due to my lack of experience on systems engineering but I received my feedback this morning and everything else was pretty much bang on and had the role got the timeframe for development I would've got it hands down. The guy who interviewed me also got in touch to say there would be roles like that in the new year, so he's stuck me in the "talent pool" and will be in touch when the roles come up. The beauty of the talent pool is they go off your previous interview, so I won't need to be interviewed again.

  12. Gnasher I can't keep up with you. I thought you were well into all that British jobs for British people stuff? That's what most of your posts on the EU thread are about. As for the arms manufacture stuff, how many working class people work in the arms industry, especially in the North West. Cammell Laird have got Type 45 Destroyers out the arse. Whether Owen Jones and co agree with it or not, the arms industry employs a lot of people - a lot of union, Labour voting people at that. This is where I get annoyed at the hijacking of the term 'left'. There's nothing left wing about ditching armies and nuclear weapons. That's, I dunno, liberal/woodstock hippy stuff. Liverpool is traditionally blue labour. It's Labour, it's unionised jobs, it's socially conservative. Kashmir and non binary existentialism need not apply.

  25. Spoiled little bastards aren't they. Being totally objective for a second, the Glazers aren't great owners in terms of their chaotic approach post-Ferguson or the decay that's set in around the stadium, but the debt they've loaded on the club is easily serviced to the point where they can be the biggest spending club in the country over the past ten years, and in the grand scheme of cunt owners in English football they're barely mid-table. Dour, but not downright awful. I hope they get bought out by some proper hedge fund cunts in the current borrowing climate and they find out what real cunty ownership looks like.

  28. That is hilarious, but equally tragic that it's heavily based on fact. My American cousin visited early this year while travelling and it was lovely to see her as she had just turned 70 we hadn't see her for about 25 years. Anyway,we talked a lot about the US and family and she was telling me that she has fallen out with a lot of her family because of their crazy views. She is a lot like us,very liberal, open minded and cares about things like the environment and poor treatment of foreign workers etc. She has a brother who is your typical Trumpist and she, naturally, doesnt see eye to eye as he's a second amendment 'guns for breakfast, dinner and tea etc. He befriended me on facebook but after a couple of posts I deleted him as I had a feeling he was that way. Her Mum,my Dad's sister met her husband and my Uncle through him being stationed in the USAF in Europe in the 1950s and he was a lovely quiet man from a large family in Georgia. My cousin also doesn't speak to them as they are religious nutters. My cousin has travelled extensively around the world over the years and I think this is why, alongside some familial DNA,that she is so open in her thinking. Similarly,my Uncle and her Dad travelled through being in the Air Force and his kids lived in Spain and Guam, plus elsewhere during their childhood before settling in California near Vandenburgh Air Base where he was finally stationed. This is a long winded way of saying that 'travel broadens the mind' and opens up the thought processes. The insularity of many Americans is a major cause of 'Trumpism' and religious fanatasism that is rife over there and other cultures aren't allowed to seep in too much other than in 'harmless' ways like food and fashion etc.
