  1. What a shit illness. It really does make you go through the ringer. My dad has flipped between looking like he was getting better and then getting poorly again. They stuck him on an intubator last week to do his breathing for him. I come to terms with that being it for him. Was gutted that he was in an induced coma and just wanted him to go out able to dream weirdly. Was gutted that you werent able to dream in this induced coma and thought, from his perspective anyway, that was his life done. Then they woke him up and was doing well and was made up for him. The nurses said he was doing better but then they said today that they cannot keep giving him oxygen indefinitely and may have to stop. Thinking about a tracheotomy for him to clear mucus and making a decision tomorrow. Apparently he is up in the bed now giving the nurses the thumbs up and that but they dunno if they can do anything. Heart breaking that he seems to be trying to convince them he is ok. He must be terified. Part of me wishes he stayed in the coma now. Absolutely shite illness.

  2. I randomly thought about a girl who used to bully me when I was in Primary 5 today, she was in Primary 7 at the time & about twice the size of me. She gave me a good hiding 3 or 4 times, pulling my hair & punching me in the face, proper batterings until one day my twin brother & me decided to kick seven shades of shit out of her & that was the end of that. I looked for her on Facebook only to find her brother whose most recent post was a picture of them both as kids with loads of people saying 'RIP your sister'. Genuinely brightened up my day & put a wee skip in my step.

  7. Hi everyone, hope you're doing well. I have started my own podcast over the last few months as a weekly distraction from the weird and wacky times of 2020. The topic is football. Of all shapes and sizes. I have kept back on promoting this on TLW (thanks for permission Dave) because I knew I was getting a guest on. I think this is the most interesting show we've done so far as TLW's own Stu Monty talks about life in the semi-pro leagues, how COVID has affected their seasons and we also go on to talk about PPV, Project Big Picture and a revamp of the Europa League. Would really appreciate a listen and a subscription. This is a new lockdown hobby so I am still finding my feet but the two lads I do it with, despite their choice of clubs, are good football men who talk a lot of sense. You can catch it here: https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-cb4mm-ef4448 https://castbox.fm/episode/The-Big-Football-Podcast---October-14th-2020-id3289993-id315757186?country=gb https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-big-football-podcast/id1530179647 If you ask Alexa to play The Big Football Podcast by Daniel Thomas, she will do exactly that which was really cool and unnerving at the same time. Dave is going to be joining me, hopefully next week. Thanks for any support and hope you're all well.

  9. With the APIs, when two people (or rather two devices) come in close proximity to each other (within the range of Bluetooth), their devices exchange “keys” unique to the devices. In this way, each individual device will have a set of keys for each device it has come in proximity with. If a person contracts the disease, they will update their info on the app, which will be synced to a database. And all the devices that have come in contact with the infected person will receive a notification. It’s basically like this. Imagine you’re taking down the list of everyone you come in contact with. And you’re checking the list of infected people every day, and you compare it with your list. If you find someone in common, you can isolate yourself and check for symptoms. But the process is completely automatic(except the part where you have to update if you get sick), faster, and more private. Since only keys linked to the smartphones are used, you remain anonymous, and while everyone who has come in contact with an infected person will get a notification, nobody can tell who they got it from. And the system will be platform independent, it doesn’t matter if one user has an Android phone and the other has an iOS device.

  11. Sky has grudgingly started to interview League one and two chairmen who seem overwhelmingly in favour for obvious reasons. Their narrative has been constantly that this boils down to a 14-6 argument but the reality is it is a 78-14 argument. Amusingly enough the biggest mouth on Sky ( unsurprisingly) is Purslow who is totally against the proposals but not being asked how he would have felt if they had earned one point less last season. In line with most on here I like some of the proposals but disagree with some , and assume this is where negotiations will focus. - The League Cup would be better if it was for non-euro participants - More support for the EFL is good ( I think the figures mooted will be reduced to suit the 14 along with concessions re parachute payments ) and the PL has been making excuse after excuse over this for 7 months so strange to see them try to claim the moral high ground over the proposal. - More financial scrutiny is good. - Voting rights is a hot potato but I can't be alone in thinking it odd that Liverpol have the same clout as a team that has been in the league since June and that Paddy Power has already paid out on their relegation. This is where negotiations come in, as Dockers Strike said you don't expect to get everything you propose and Henry / Glazer wouldn't expect it in this case.

  12. John Lennon should easily get to the latter stages. His solo career only lasted 10 years? And there’s still enough quality to wipe the floor with most of the other solo artists. His solo career seems to be massively underrated on here.

  14. My Missus had to come off the pill so had the coil fitted which caused no end of problems, it was a nightmare for her. I came home from work one day and she was just sat there with her head down really pale. The last time I saw her in that state was after she'd had my lad when she haemorrhaged and I nearly lost her so I decided there and then to have the snip. The op itself was uncomfortable as AS says and I got the infection as well. Bollocks like fucking spacehoppers and a week or so off work. I know plenty of lads who have had it done, my lad included who have sailed right through the whole thing with no problems other than a little discomfort, so maybe I was just unlucky. Would I do it again? if you know what I mean, let me put it this way. If my Missus could go through what she did and still have the courage to have another baby, you bet your life I would. It's really not that bad. My Dad got done after my sister was born in 1972. He goes to the hospital to have it done, and he's taken into the ward because it was done under general anaesthetic in those days. A nurse comes in to check if he'd shaved and he hadn't, so she goes for some soap and a razor to shave him. Now my Dad was a very private man and his dignity was important to him so he insisted on doing it himself so he does then gets wheeled in for the op. When he wakes up, he sticks his hand under the blanket to check his tackle and brushes past something so has a look to see what it is. One of the nurses had tied a pink ribbon on his cock. A few minutes later a nurse went in to check on him, " Ah, you're back with us. How are you feeling?, everything ok? " "Er, er, yeh". " Ok love, I'll go and get you some tea and toast. By the way, in these places you leave your dignity at the door and collect it on the way out". He said you could see she was trying not to laugh so when he shook his head and gave off a little laugh himself she went in bulk. My Mum never let him live it down.

  17. He only played 45 mins in the first game. Trent getting a rest tonight. Neville and Carragher both saying they aren’t sure Southgate fancies him. Whose opinion would you trust? Gareth Southgate. A goat in a waistcoat. Never won fuck all as a player or manager. Or Jurgen Klopp. German and English league winner. European Cup winner and runner up.

  22. Fucking mental isn't it? That beaches and fields I might want to walk to clear my head are off limits to me under pain of penalty and almost certainly local mentalists chasing me with pitch forks. I'd give absolutely anything to get out of the UK now, it's an oubliette for the soul. Socially, mentally, economically and spiritually broken.

  23. I think you have to be in close proximity for about 15 or so minutes for it to consider it a risk. It's something to install and forget. If you get covid and you have been close to others with the app for more than 15 minutes then they will know when you tell the app. This might be useful if they (or you) have grandparents or a family member that are high risk. They can then chose to avoid seeing that person for a few days to see if they get any symptoms or further warnings. It's not perfect, nothing is. I can see why many would want to swerve it though.

  30. Love the way they moan and never let you forget if you've ever made a mistake doing anything. However, if the situation is reversed they go off their heads if you ever mention it or point it out. I scratched the door opening our car last month, when I say scratched it I mean it was literally a dot on the inside of the door that you would have trouble pointing out with a magnifying glass. She didnt shut up about it for days until I reminded her that she scraped the entire door of our old car trying to park in a shitty small car park in town. But because i pointed this out I'm a petty cunt who lives in the past. I've been putting together a load of flat pack bedroom furniture and she's been project managing everything reminding me that a wardrobe I put together about 5 years ago broke. Only because the drawer was overloaded, left open and someone leant on it. Anyway, last night I go up and she moved one chest of drawers from one side of the room to another without asking for help lifting it. She told me that she pushed it across the floor using the front bars after taking the drawers out. She then informs me that I need to phone up ikea and get a replacement front bar for the drawers as the front is all wonky. When I put them together the other day there was fuck all wrong with them but now one of the rails that hold the drawers in has been bent which could have only been caused by someone whacking it or pushing on it for a while. Yet somehow this wasn't caused by her pushing them across the room but because I didn't put them together properly. I have put together 3 others with no problem like this but she is adamant that it's my fault when I built it. Which it blatantly wasn't and told her to fuck off and to stop hiding behind her own mistakes.

  33. Bill Callahan - Gold Record I thought I had never heard of Bill Callahan until I started listening to this album. Then I recognised the voice and it made me realise I actually saw him live with a mate who was trying to get me into Bill's music. I don't remember very much about that gig to be honest other than thinking the atmosphere created from the band was excellent but that I felt bored from listening to him "sing". (Had to check, it was his "Dream River" album tour) So therein lies my issue. He isn't really a singer, is he? He's just generally speaking melodically within a narrow range and I just can't "dig" artists like that because it never grabs my attention. Bill is a storyteller and therefore DEMANDS to be carefully listened to. I do try my best to do this but before I know it the song is over and I've forgotten what has just happened (I actually nodded off listening to this yesterday evening). That's not to say I have a short attention span, it's just my brain seems to reject this type of thing. He isn't my bag but I do see how people could like him though. So I think it would be churlish of me to provide a rating so I'll abstain on this one.

  37. I have a problem with this viewpoint and that unctuous prick Simon Evans was tooting a similar tune on the news Quiz last week. Something along the lines of what do you expect from extending the franchise to all, you are going to get monster truck idiots voting for Trump. its fucking dishonest and shows (on his part) how little fucking respect some people have for the working class and poor, who, don’t forget, have only had the vote for ~100 years. it’s problematic in 2 ways, firstly it lays all the blame of voting for Trump/Johnson/Bolsonaro et al at the foot of others - never mind the rich fuckers who vote for and actually gain from the right wing bastards who get elected, it neglects the part of the centrist who will accept anything bar a social Democrat in power. also it fails to take into account the paucity of information and levels of disinformation given to the voting public via the media (who by and larger look to the right even if that is just the inside right side of the line). With such asymmetric levels of information, to continue to pour blame down is a fucking shithouse tactic.
