Thing is, with Benayoun on the right and Keane up front in a 4-4-2, every player would be in his preferred position (OK, Yossi might prefer to be central but he does a good job anywhere). Kuyt, as much as I love him, isn't a lone striker; he doesn't have the pace to beat men on his own, or the finishing ability when there are plenty of defenders to mark him. His ball holding is great, but you need more than that to play up front on your own, Keane would be better suited in that role.

Only caught the last 20 minutes of the half but we barely crossed the halfway line. How's Riera looking?

I'd stick Keane, Torres and Babel on.

So would I. This was always going to be a poxy fixture. They are a horrible footballing side. That first half had the feel of a cup game against a lower division side from it.

We just need to battle on and get a 0-1 win from this then to hell with the long throw knobheads. One of those games you just have to get through, if you want to win the title. Classy football was never going to be the order of the day for the most-part.

And do we really need two midfielders dropping deap to take the ball off the back 4? The ball goes forward, we get knocked off the ball and we then have a lack of numbers to pick up the 2nd ball and it comes right back at us.

as a TEAM we are not at the races so far today. this isn't about one individual. even our stalwarts look shit and by that i mean gerrard and carra.

this is one of those times where we thought we could just show up and roll over a team, and SToke are having none of it.

ANd that's the problem. It's no like so and so is shit so we'll swap him out. It's everyone! We can't change them all.

If we can work on retaining the ball, that'll be a start.

Hah, I see the Lucas bashing has started already. Not a one player on the field there has played any good at all. They've all been crap.

I know what you're saying, but Lucas probably has more to prove to everyone on here than most of the other players out there, because we've seen performances very similar to this from him so many times before.

I'm not having a pop at him because it's not personal.

I just think he's playing very poorly, giving the ball away every time he tries a pass over 10 yards and also being caught in possession too easily.

I don't really rate him as a player because I've seen more of this from him than I've seen good from him.

Personally, I'd sub him and put either Keane or Torres on, but I can't see it happening.

Mind Stoke's play is awful, Wimbledon mark 2. Just goes to show WBA try to play football and end up worse off

Exactly. If I was Tony Pulis, which thank fuck I am not, as that jacket and hat combo makes him look like a gay roadie, I would feel pretty much vindicated about the way my side played. They play to their strengths and I hate to say it but, in this game at least, they've been no worse at passing the ball than we have.

I have not seen much of Plessis this season Kurt, but I think he is a player who will improve with better players around him because of his playing style.

He keeps it simple and uses mainly one or two touches on the ball, this gives you movemnet and thats something we did not see much of in the first half.
