Since the rise of COVID-19 and the 2020 presidential election, it has become apparent that conspiracy theories play a greater role in society than previously thought, but what makes people likely to fall into conspiracy beliefs? A study published in PLOS One provides more evidence that personality disorder symptomology may be related to conspiracy thinking.

Conspiracy theories are beliefs that espouse the idea that many major world events have secretly been facilitated by those in power for political reasons and/or personal gain. Belief in conspiracy theories has been found to be related to various factors, such as educational level, political affiliation, socioeconomic status, age, and sex.

Additionally, conspiracy belief has been explored in relation to personality disorders before, with higher levels of clusters A (odd, eccentric) and B (dramatic, erratic) and lower levels of cluster C (anxious, fearful) being related to increased conspiracy thinking. This study aims to expand on and replicate previous research by exploring factors that relate to belief in conspiracy theories.

This shit used to be "mostly harmless" (to borrow a phrase from Douglas Adams) but since COVID the far right have really profited from using conspiracy theories to attract gullible pricks to their bigoted cause.

It's dangerous because it's unpredictable. It's obvious that Fascists are going to organise around stuff like (non-white) asylum seekers, but I don't think anyone predicted what would happen with 15-minute cities and Drag Queen Story Hour. Who knows what the next thing might be. It means that anti-Fascists are on the back foot, having to respond to whatever nonsense the Fascists grab the reins of next.

There were some 15 minute city types in town last week.

Said it before but I've come to believe there's an evolutionary reason we don't like weirdos, it's because they can lead the wider community into bother.

Village life 1,000 years ago - putting salt on your crops makes them grow faster. Everyone listens, everyone dies.

So instead he's left to his own devices on the outskirts of the village, kids throw fruit at him but other than that he's largely ignored.

Now though, he'd be able to use social media to form links with other village idiots and the village idiot movement would be born, thousands of them spreading their horseshit, with devastating consequences.

Superb.

How fat are these 15 minute city cunts?    Do they know they can get to most places they want in pretty much any city if they ran?

The Human Skin as a Sub-THz Receiver – Does 5G Pose a Danger to It or Not? and “The Modeling of the Absorbance of Sub-THz Radiation by Human Skin are two papers by physicists presenting research that found higher 5G frequencies are intensely absorbed into human sweat ducts (in skin), at much higher absorption levels than other parts of our skin’s tissues (Betzalel 2017Betzalel 2018). The researchers conclude, “we are raising a warning flag against the unrestricted use of sub-THz technologies for communication, before the possible consequences for public health are explored
