David Martin goes on loan

Liverpool goalkeeper David Martin has joined League One side Leicester City on a six-month loan.

The 22-year-old follows clubmate Jack Hobbs in making the temporary move to the Walkers Stadium.

 

"At my age, gaining first-team experience is of paramount importance and that's why I have come to Leicester," said Martin.

 

"I certainly want to make the most of my time here and hopefully Leicester will benefit from my arrival as well."

 

The Romford-born stopper, who has one England Under-20 cap to his name, has yet to make his competitive debut for Liverpool.

 

The Leicester move is his second loan since arriving at Anfield in January 2006 having made 10 appearances for Accrington Stanley last year.

The problem any keeper at the club have is we currently have one of the best keepers in Europe and he is still a young lad himself so they are going to have be some prospect to dislodge Pepe.

Rafa has clearly identified goalkeeper as one of his money making positions. Between Martin, Bouzanis, Mihalov (yeah i butchered the spelling), Carson, Gulacsi we've got plenty of good young goalkeepers (or in Carson's case had)

 

We get them on the cheap and then look to sell them on it appears. initial impressions of Cavalieri could be that Rafa might plan to do it with his 2nd choice goalkeepers as well.
